Work is progressing on the old girl. She has all her identity numbers back where they should be and a new steering wheel to boot.

Down to machine shop when it opens tomorrow for more "fine tuning stuff" Next thing on the list is to fix that cut out on the plate between the rad and the fender. Funny how something like that will bother you. That is for another day though.

Parksville!!!! H159 P16 orange Pacific went there on Friday They are stashing them in the industrial complex across the highway from Tigh Na Mara on that road that runs parallel to the highway Moh Creek's old yard There is a sandblasting place in there also From what I can gather this will be where they all end up for now till they are re-sold

Only two left at Cameron Yard Imagine by tomorrow they will be gone also. OH well It sure was a good ride while it lasted. Go to Parksville and
check them out If they are bringing all the ones from Chemainus also there will be 17 of them This will be the last chance for anybody to see this number of off highway trucks in one place ever again.

So incredibly lame! I am so lucky to have been raised by parents that took me out to see this kind of stuff when I was little and things were still going strong. All of the things that built this province are dead and gone now. The yuppies have won... I guess I will have to build a few more models so that I have something to look at.... Thankfully we know a couple of guys that have some Hayes stuff stashed away where the vultures can't find it.

That is very sad...I may have to make a trip over to Parksville...
Now....If I remember my history lesson correctly IPL H-153 is ex M&B H155 and that would mean the last P-16 built is on its way to who knows where...
Where is H-17 currently resting ??

diamondtguy Yes H153 Is H155 from the best old days. As you know she came in a package deal of 5 P16's Two Preloads H14 (ex 140) and H139. H14 will end up there eventually. H139 is owned by Dave Dixon if memory serves me right. She is attached to an off highway lowbed. Was in Holberg, but may be down in Jordan River now. As for the conventionals --H138 Lost in the Hayes shuffle at north end of island back in early 2008. Heard at one time she went to Lamar Lake Logging, H153 (H155) went to Parksville yesterday H157 (H153) will, if not already be there also. Both these trucks are easily identifiable by their front bumpers They have a steel plate welded across the two push blocks and it is boxed in. All of them kind of look a little run down so to speak. Most times they were really looked after but with all the turmoil of late they got somewhat put on low priority list. I know this is NOT WHAT LYLE WANTED He always liked the equipment to look really "Spiffy" and well looked after. However rates and other unforeseen bad things have taken him down this path. He at one time was taking the trucks down to chemainus and going over them when time permitted, so that they were always there when needed. The condition of the equipment reflects the rates people are expected to work for. I was told that they will all either end up down south of the border as heavy haul trucks or head for the oilfields. I guess it is almost time to write an obituary honoring the OFF-HIGHWAY TRUCKS. camptramp is pretty good with that sort of line. Maybe a nice poem or something. If you go, make sure you make the trip when the gate will be open. There is security there in a trailer. To all you guys out there thinking of a road trip-- Take your camera and enjoy. Please DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO JEOPARDIZE THIS OPORTUNITY!! The fellows working there are top drawer guys been in the industry for many many years. Hughie worked for PACIFIC in Nanaimo a long time ago. As for old 17 Well lets just say she is safe and getting cleaner all the time. NO MORE WASHBOARD or POTHOLES !!! Hard to wait for sunshine.

Good Morning Doug, I am afraid that it will not happen anymore. Unfortunatly these are a hot commodity right now and word is out that they are available for purchase. The Duncan Forest Museum has even changed its name to be called the "Discovery Center" It is NOT to be called the Forest Museum in todays terminology any longer. This pleases those with no taste for the very industry that made this province. I have not been there since the big name change but it would be interesting to DISCOVER HOW TREES ARE FELLED and to DISCOVER old people that did all this DISCOVERING back before a hand full of people that looked and smelled bad started actually hugging trees.
