259D no start and smokes badly when cranking.

Bled all air from lines. Electric fuel pump has been replaced along with all filters. Customer said he may have run low on fuel before changing filters. Shut off sylenoid is good, new battery, fuel is present when cracking all lines at Injectors. There is a check valve at bottom of fuel Filter ......it is good, there's an office in the fitting at the top of the fuel Filter housing.....new battery, alI fuses are good cleaned it and it's flowing.This machine is very complex and has been down for two weeks! Maybe pump is weak.electronic engine C3.3D.Has unit injectors. Anyone had this problem? Operator said it bogged down as he was Rollin along and would only idle after it bogged down. Anyone ?

Has anyone checked the fuel tank for water and general debris, even if only to rule it out..?

Own five 2015 - 259D, had this happen to two of them, both had less than 250hrs on them, Cat sent a bulletin out to the dealers for this problem, they would crank and crank but would not start. Although we did not have black smoke. Both of them need a new fuel pumps (at least it was under warranty) Dealer told us they will fix the rest of them as they fail

The particulate filter has never been preformed. Cat sells a new,reman and overs to clean but service man says better to replace with new 10 hours labor. He said they pull the engine to change EPF.3.3 Kabota engine. Turbo dumped oil into intake and it ran away yesterday! Likely needs fuel pump also. My ET program is down right now but it melted the air filterat when ran away. Customer has has machine since new for a year and a half and absent preformed a regen!

Fuel tank is free of debris. Kabota sells only new turbos FYI no remand avail. Machine is way too complex....... Totally unnecessary!

It's gonna get worse unless the EPA is dethroned. Thank God machines with mechanical injection and no modules/computers are still available, though are getting few and far between.

Pardon me, but im not sure i understand. The DPF/EPF replacment is 10 hours labor? and they recommend pulling the motor to change it?
Kubota engine in a cat machine?

P there's no sense for all the complexity

Additionally I order the parts today and they're going to be about $4,500. The customer stated today that he would never buy another cat machine again

Ok so what did you order ? What is the root cause of the issues on the machine ? Are they all connected or separate issues ?

You say it smokes and wont start - what is the problem ?
Engine filled the intake with oil - what failed in the turbo ?
Engine ran away- how much additional damage has been done ?, how did the air filter melt ?
Your pulling the engine to replace a DPF ?

Yes Holy Cat said it's faster to pull engine and change because it just is. The cylinders were found to be scored and I did not have my ET.diagnostics working on my laptop so no telling if they got it hot or what. The guy refused to pay me after I put the new fuel transfer pump on and told me I blew his engine up. Cat came out and told him they could offat $5,000 trade in for his machine. Man my trucks transmission went out on way home from his machine 70 miles away from me and I returned another day to try and get his machine up and running and finally found....in addition to the turbo, office rusted at too of fuel FILTER housing, fuel transfer pump and D P F FILTER BEING faulty. The cylinders proved to be toast because he never preformed a seven. The dude cost me about $400 to work on his machine Armando garcia with his one man show....overall construction. in royce city, tx. Refused to pay squat and sent a friend to give me $80 bucks. Just got my suburban work truck back tonight. The guy is a real jerk all full of promises and B S.

3.3 and 3.8 in the D/D2 series are Kubota engines.

Regen is automatic, manual intervention is rarely needed
