Reg,

The only way that truck would not look good would be a picture at night with no flash. I think you have out done yourself this time. What a beauty!

Since it's pretty quiet around here... Trying to work some kinks out of the hitch. It didn't have enough travel so I lengthened it out a bit and then it would get stuck! I took it all apart and welded the extension on(was bolted). Once welded I machined it smooth. I think it will work now but I have to wait for the paint to dry before trying it again.

Just to be snarky, I would expect to see a appropriate scale Lincoln pneumatic grease gun hooked up to a glad hand greasing the compensator. :)

The whole project is amazing especially the time frame in which we watch your progress on the thread. Beyond my capabilities.

Haha, Thanks Jumbo. I'm sure somewhere, someone has a mini grease gun that actually works. I think that is a little beyond my skill set though.

I was also working on this yesterday. I ended up installing a water tank for now because it's so dry. We used it to water our road at the Duncan show and it worked ok but didn't really pump enough water out. I managed to find a different pump and with a few modifications got it installed and working. It wets the road down well now and doesn't take very long to pump out it's capacity of nearly 6 liters.

I have grease on it. Originally I had a light spring on the backside that helped keep it pulled in. When I added the extra length, I changed to a shorter spring which wasn't really helping any. Last night after I welded the extension on I was able to change things a little so that I could use the longer spring again and I also beveled the end slightly. I am hopeful that it will be just enough to help the compensator slide back in when straightening the truck out. I am just about to reinstall it for testing. Fingers crossed that it works properly and doesn't hang up :).

The recent info about the last P16's built and where they went has got me wondering if anyone knows when the last 850 was built? I thought I read somewhere that it was around the same time as the last Pacific(89ish) but I could be wrong?

OK - dumb question. Why does an apparently good truck get stripped down to cab and frame and maybe frame only. Obviously could be a blown engine, or tranny and too much cost -vs- value of truck. Or maybe not enough logs to justify using an off road truck, or the haul will only utilize highway trucks and so on. But, is there essentially no market for these trucks, or just too old, cracked frames and so on??
