Did the next truck ordered for Nitnat come with AC ??

Yes,Corey it did. That was the 40-92,came one year after the 87. First one to have the Detroit Silver 92 and a Cotta. Trucks after that were 12-71 and then the two Supervtrucks,40-98 and 40-99 came to Nitinat with A/C. They replaced the first two which sank. BP.

BLK Prince: What did you think of the 8V92 vs. the 12V71? Seems like the 12V71 would have more guts. What about reliability also?

Vigilant, perhaps something got lost by mistake. The Silver 92 that we got were the 12v92. I did not drive one as I stayed with the V-16 but I think the12-92 was a stronger engine. The hood was shorter. I think the wheel base was shorter also but diamondtguy may know more about that. BP.

Diamondtguy, check the first picture on the Pacific thread. First time I noticed that the air cleaners are on driver's side. New from factory or a later rebuild-changeover?

I don't ever recall putting the air cleaners there on a P-16.That spot was used for the power steering tank..As the truck has been repowered I suspect they got moved at that time

It is possible that the 12V92 powered trucks had a different wheel base than 40-87..We did have a optional wheel base.
If I remember correctly 40-87 was a N/A 16V and the 12V92's were turbo'd.They are very close to the same CID but I would imagine the 12V92 under load and earning its keep would outpower the 16V...It just wouldn't sound as good doing it tho...

The attached photos are for Diamond T Guy, saw this a couple weeks ago behind the bar in Dupuyer Montana and got a couple photos before it disappears.

Very nice looking P-16. Did the inside get redone as well? Hope you have a Driver worthy of this beauty. Also,I see a nice new Pacific decal mounted on the rad tank. Not there when she was in the auction. Do you have a stash perhaps?

Little memory test for me..The black and red Pacific Oval started life as a cast emblem. It was designed after International sold us and we no longer had to use the International cab on our hwy trucks (much to our delight). The Pacific cab got the new wrap around dash for the hwy trucks. This dash also was used on the P-16's although I don't know if that was a good idea. I preferred the metal dash for the off road stuff.Actually we re-designed both the glass and steel front ends trucks.Gone were the ropes IH had on us...It was a great time..

The oval emblem was used on our hwy stuff.I would have to check through my pictures but I am sure a few P-16-s got them on the rad..

The Emblem/sticker is probably still available from Pacific. The rectangular Pacific name plate sadly is not as the molds are gone.I do have some new old school Pacific script emblems in my stash...

diamondtguy,I see on the Madill thread that camptramp posted a few pics of the 40-96 and she had the oval decal,in someone's collection now. On the CZ thread,I was looking at 40-87 but there was not one on her. She came with a slanted sight glass. Now I feel slighted. Here I thought I was special, lol

We had 5 Highway Pacifics (P510S) at BCFP Renfrew Div. at one time . I found an oval "Pacific" emblem at truck wash one day( off another truck they were glued on ) , it found its way on to the radiator of #40-96 when Calvin & Mike refurbished it in 1992 . Looks like the radiator or top rad tank was changed or somebody ripped it off at Munns Lumber .
The top tank looks like someone has ground off the medal ring holding the oval emblem on top tank , then did a tacky job of repainting it in picture taken at Ritchie Bros. Auction .

This past week's episode of "Gold Rush", featured an old Pacific logging truck. It was still in yellow and green paint scheme. They were using it to pull a lowboy, hauling a wash plant. They said the wash plant weighed 150,000 lbs. Who knows what it really weighs, after all, it is Gold Rush.

H-157 Second last P-16 built

The second last P-16 truck built was sold to MacMillian Bloedel, this truck was also built in Oct 1989 Driver Pete Burley got her brand new at Sarita. Pete stayed on her till he went onto a KW highway truck in 2001. She was, one of a five truck order. Two Preloads H139 H140 later changed to (H14) and three conventionals H138 H153 H155 All were spec’d out the same 91,000 Clark rears 13:1 ratio 60-61 Allison trans KTA 600 Cummins engines. Truck was bought by Hayes Forest in 2003 along with a number of other M&B trucks at the big WEYCO Garage sale. It remained red and white but had the HFS decals on the doors for about 2-3 years. If I remember right it was about 2005 that she went to their shop in Duncan and was rebuilt to their spec’s. That is when the Cummins was removed and the C15 Cat engine installed.. This is when the paint scheme went from red and white to the white and yellow that it has today. She had a number of different drivers on her over the years. IPL bought her in Jan/2008 along with a number of other trucks from Hayes Forest after they lost the contract with Western Forest products at Franklin. Because of the good shape it was in it was decided by IPL to just leave it alone and run it and just do the maintainence required as things were needed. Driver Donny Bodnar went on her when IPL bought it it and he stayed on her till he retired then Jim Johnson went on her till she was taken to Chemianus late in 2015 to have the trans replaced. She was to get a new paint job and a mini rebuild at the same time. I don’t know if the trans was changed before she was sold or not. As for paint jobs IPL never changed the color of any trucks and that is why we had orange ones and yellow ones. When IPL bought H153 (ex M&B H155) it was still red and white. IPL had her rebuilt and repainted in the same colors as the rest of the HFS Fleet.
Thanks to Larry at Coast Power Train and to HDX for their help
