Here is an intersting project I am trying to work out , a Volvo excavator brand new is being set up to do concrete demo work , there are two attachment for it , one uses full system pressure and the other is senitive to pressure and flow must not exceed 2000psi @ 17 gpm , we are trying to come up with a way to easily make the switch from one attachment setting to the other , the dealer is kinda stumped and a local hydraulic shop is helping by trying to do it thru the computor as this machine does have a flow controll to the aux , where the operator and pick a flow off the screen such as 30gpm , 23 gpm, 15 gpm , and such ,but can't controll pressure ----- being that the pump is a pump on demand system , it's kinda tricky as to how and plumb it easiy , anyone dealt with these cards before

What type of machine is it?
If it is a new one I'd be surprised if it doesn't have a computercontrolled pressure as well as flow for atleast the "hammer" circuit.

Do the tools use 1 or 2 functions, double or single acting?

volvo

Volvo is the machine and both attachments use a one single non directional flow and need to be retuned to the tank

Anyways, On the outgoing line make a tee and put a ballvalve and then an adjustable reliefvalve that can handle the flow you put out and then a line to the tank, perhaps make a tee on the "free" hammerreturn line and plumb it back in there.

When you want the higher pressure you close the ballvalve and the reliefvalve on the machine sets the pressure.
Open the ballvalve and the new relief sets the pressure.
The flow is set via the computer.

Volvo EC210B

EC210B is the model number , a service manuel was order and came in as a motor grader manuel , part number problem , they are ordering again , one service tech said he thinks the pressure can be set thru the computor , but can't figure how to get to the screen to do it , the function may not be turned on on the main frame , or it is not possible from the computor , one thing for sure , the back up support is less than to be desired on the Volvo , personal are helpful but the information doesn't seem to be readily there yet ---------- the second relief valve beyond the first is about the best opition so far , but a couple of advisors have noted that heat build up may be a problem going that way as the pump is suppose to be a pump on demand model and could have a negative impact , there is so much going on that it would take a book to cover it all , simple problem turned into a major one , don't won't to do it twice or damage any components , so a lot of prep going into it the first time

The new deere excavators come factory with that flow/preasure changeing system on it you just do it on the computer monitor in the cab, i think you can program up to 6 attachments on it.

You should go take a look at one and see how they did it, if not maybe upgrade
