camptramp, these little windows into a past time are Magic, I find myself looking at the photos then going in for a second time to look at them all again, usually ending up lost in this thread for way to long, so it has to be good stuff and what a record of Forest Life, so thank you Sir for you effort it's first rate.

I to would like to thank camptramp and all the others for these great threads! First thing in the morning, before newspaper i have to check for new posts. Guess my first hooktender Rich Anderson from Summerland was right when he said to me: Once you get these boots( caulk boots) on you never get them off, at least not in my brain. Thanks! Sigurd

You said just what I was thinking, so enjoyable to see some of how it was done back then. Quite resourceful building and doing work mostly by hand and with steam power when available.

In #138 4th pic is of the cable powered "walking dudly" steam engine from the McNair Fraser logging in West Vancouver, remember my gramps telling me stories of logging the area, one of when the cable broke and it ended up in the drink. if you google walking dudly there is more photos and info.

In post # 448, the first picture, of the automobile, off the tracks; is quite interesting.

We have looked at it, and it appears to be a 1928 Hudson.

Definitely Hudson, and 1928 seems to be correct.

The logging pioneers, were quite resourceful, in the machinery they used.
