--Today I cannot get the hydraulic hoses attached. Last time it was difficult but with the sweat bees and heat, I have given up twice now. I read the manual in three spots it indicates...release hydraulics but it does not say how. Page 174 a few pages but I still did not locate that part.

--I went out and turned off the hydraulics in the back, and still I could not get it on, although it did seem to give more like it was going to work this time.

--My horn stopped working at about 30 hours...fuse?

--The new plastic spout I bought for my diesel container fell in the fuel tank and I could not get it out. I filled the tank thinking it might float but that did not happen.

--I had locked myself out of the skiddy and already lost a key (got 2) in the yard...you can shut the door with the lock still engaged and then you need a key to get back in unless you were lucky enough to have the window cracked...I liked the advice to have windows open even with A/C on so you can hear directions and perils. (and get back in locked skiddy)

--I still have to learn how to use the joystick for rabbit vs snail or whatever that icon is. turtle? Not real attuned to turning road speed and creep speed and all that.

--I have the demo-dozer, but have not gotten around to figuring out what Rezloh edge to purchase to protect the edge. 72 inch Demo-Dozer. Have loved grating drive, preparing new driveway, clearing weeds, big stuff and taking out the garbage (and smashing down dumpster contents a little and moving the dumpster to make my garbage man happier).

--Any input or enlightenment is welcome, thank you! SW gets the brunt of my questions otherwise.

On my Volvo MCT125C you release the hyd pressure in the lines by going through the usual startup process but not starting the engine then moving the aux hyd switch back and forth, you will hear the valve . If you have pressure built up in the attachment you will have to loosen the lines or move the attachment to relieve he pressure

Thank you, I'll work with it some more. I did turn the switch to turn all hydraulics off (the safety switch in back)....I did notice it got better so what you say makes sense.

I'm thinking you need to turn the key to the run position ( do not start the skid), next release the brakes or hydraulics like you were going to operate the skid, now you just rock the switch that operates the auxiliaries back and forth to release the pressure ( you should hear the valve actuate). Also if you do not do this procedure before removing an attachment you will have to loosen the hookups on the attachment to release the pressure on the hoses. Once you get use to doing this you will have no problems. I have been having this problem with new operators. Good luck

I'd bet it (presure) is on the attachment side. A few degrees of temp swing (from when you removed it) can make it all but impossible some times. A cyl. on a grapple that was not all the way "relaxed" will cause this also. "crack" both lines on your attachment.

Some machines have you release the pressure by turning then off then on (but not running, then unlocking the hydraulics and running aux switch as others mentioned.

Some have an additional switch for releasing pressure, until Cat went to push to release connections they had an extra switch to relieve pressure. Push to release connections you simply push the connection in before unhooking it to relieve pressure.

Couple the hoses together when you unhook stuff to prevent issues in the future and keep them clean.

On my old machine with on thing with cylinders I would let them settle on their own. Like on a grapple, leave the claws open just a touch and when they settled I'd shut the machine down then unhook. It's a real pain to have to stop working to crack fittins loose. Most if not all newer machines have pressure releases built into the couplers, simply push in on then before unhooking them. But don't wait long, some machines seem to hold some residual pressure in the direction things were operated.

Don't get a lot of time to get on HEF much anymore, but saw your post and thought I would help with the aux. hydraulic issue....hopefully you are happy with your 260 other than that...

next time you have an attachment hooked up to the hydraulics, BEFORE you just pull them off the skid steer, PUSH them in first (get a good grip and give a pretty good push, as they can be a bit difficult). Your machine has self-relieving couplers on it and this takes the pressure off the attachment-side hoses and dumps back to machine tank. One thing to note, in order for this to work, you have to deactivate your auxiliaries on your Right Hand control cluster (up by the throttle). As long as they are deactivated, you will be able to relieve pressure back to tank without shutting the machine off.

If you are still having trouble, you can key-power the machine on (but do not start). Then activate the auxiliary hydraulics in the upper RH cluster. Then work the auxiliary rocker switch back and forth a few times. As a fail safe, this should always relieve pressure, however, the procedure above should ensure you don't have do go thru this process.

Hope this helps....MS

Oh, forgot about the rabbit/snail...

Rabbit is obviously 2 speed and pretty straight forward...click the LH top "trigger" button once to activate, again to deactivate. I recommend doing at low RPM as it does take off pretty quick.

Snail, or "Creep Speed" as JCB calls it is activated by double clicking the same 2 speed button, much like a mouse for a computer. When you first click it, you will see 50/100 in the upper RH display. You can then use the rocker switch (not the aux. rocker) on the LH joystick to adjust the number down from 50 and then back up again. This number is a % of top speed when the joystick is at full stroke. **Note, while you can use the rocker to adjust the number higher than 50, when creep is activated, you will never get MORE than 50% of max speed. Not sure why they can't just make the software stop at 50!??

Thank you JCBiron

I so appreciate your comments, JCBiron and everyone.

Today I got my SuperStar Rock Picker... I have hit 50 hours...and have had other things going on, too. I really appreciate all this help.

I liken cruising in my JCB 260 to a "lifetime European vacation" (fun) and it's my "dream machine".

Simon: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS IDEA. I will try this, as well.

No worries I am new to this also and am very grateful for this forum and all the members advice they so willingly share (I certainly have had my share of disasters already) i also try to keep in mind that repetition is the mother of all skills (the more hours in the seat the better we got to be)
Regards
Simon
