From what I hear people say up to 13 gallons per hour on the 973. Hopefully I keep it down a lot from that. Lol fuels expensive.

I know a 973 is in the same price range used as a 963-953. I guess theres not a good market for them because of there size which is good for us little folk. your machine sure looks good............

On a hard day my 953 will burn a tank of fuel - 50 gals. That's roughly 6.5 gals an hour. I'd be surprised if a 973 is double that but I haven't ran one.

Yeah it's the size and the weight. Most of the '73's in my area are used in landfills and dirt pits.

I'm pleased with my machine so far, although the batteries die within a few days when not used. I just turn the master switch off now when i turn the machine off. Who needs radio presets lol. I also find it hard to believe that my machine can go through 13 gallons an hour. I can see it being a lot but not 13. I hope at least.

The battery charger i do have has the tester on it, but it's only 12v, so i can only check one battery at a time. it says "good" but i don't know if i should believe it.

I would remove the neg cable and put an ammeter in between the cable and terminal, a couple amps is likely random memory etc and batts are bad but if more you have a draw some where and need to start pulling fuses while watching the gauge to try and isolate it. Good luck it can be very hard to find especially if intermittent.

Crank the machine and unhook the batteries, if it stays running the alt is good, if it quits the alt is bad. Bet its your batteries.

After I used it I topped up the fluids got rid of all air pockets in the system. It's been busy at work And had a bunch of stuff to do on the farm. It's been raining on and off for a while right when the creek was almost dried up it rained and got it all nasty again. Looking forward to getting that done. Harvest is coming up right away with the lack of rain we had this summer and spring the lentils are ready to be cut. I will try unhooking the batteries while it's running to see what it does next time I start it. My dads friend supposedly found work for me to do, and a guy we bought a trailer from for hay said he has a few dug outs that need digging so that sounds good.

Here's a project I did behind the corrals, straightened the creek a bit, took out the silt, and put a nice slope to have all the rain/spring melt go into the creek.

Noticed this as well. Track tension is not even both sides. I never checked for mud being packed in on the sprockets and bushings.

You will need to borrow or make a 4C-8195 Service Tool, otherwise known as a Click Box, to remove the Codes. See this thread ......... https://www.heavyequipmentforums.com/showthread.php?30348-D6R-series-2-fault-codes/page2

Well I suck with electronics, so I'll have to try and find a used one. May be easier said then done, and under further inspection I see that the track adjuster on the left side is leaking a little bit of grease. I am going to pump it back up tight and see how fast it leaks and loosens the track see if it needs attention sooner rather then later.

It is the seal on the rod by the way.

Levelled off and sloped by our new concrete pad for the hopper bottoms hopefully water flows downhill like it's suppose to.
