That hillside work cutting the benches in is amazing. The storage tank pictures too. That is a lot of earth to move. Good work there.

Thanks for posting the pics. The bench job looked like it would be a real pain but it sure did turn out good.

Work has been going on at a nice steady pace, nothing really photo worthy as of late. I did do a little home project that I thought you might get a kick out of. I built a gabion retaining wall around a pad I had cut a couple of yrs ago. I wanted something different than the standard retaining wall look. I built my own baskets. The wall ranged from 2ft to 5ft x 2ft thick. I used RR ties sunk 4ft deep for the strength and then built the baskets around them. I was pleased with the finished result.

Just did a little gas station demo, started at 7am Thursday and wrapped up at 1pm Friday. Had a fair amount of interior walls and the back wall was a cinder block wall. It was 1 high side and one end dump load of soft demo 2 high side loads of scrap metal and 9 end dump loads of concrete. And as an added bonus almost 1700lbs of heavy copper wire and pipe.station demo 1.jpgstation demo 2.jpg

You could not have asked for a neater cleaner job that that one. Looks great. I would be nice if the price of copper would go back up some time soon.

Nice. Were the tanks already removed or were they left in place?

The best we're getting for copper here is in the $2.00 per lb range for #1. I've got about 500lbs of of #1 tubing that I'm holding onto.

The gabion wall looks great! Sure beats the look of a CMU wall, slumpstone or not. Is that an L39 you have there?

Thanks guys, copper is down here as well so I just took it home and added it to the pile.

CM1995, as far as I can tell the tanks are still in place.

Clintm, yeah I have adjusted pretty well to the change and am comfortable again.

JNB, Yes its a L39, very handy to have around. I have a four in one bucket and a set of forks, plus a mower deck as well as the auger. I only use it around the place it never goes out on a job. Funny story about it, my wife bought it for me for Christmas one year(without me knowing), the same year I bought her a Kubota RVT(without her knowing), needless to say we were very popular around the Kubota store that year.

Well there she goes out the gate for the last time, off to the auction, kind of a sad day.

I know how ya' feel DD. As luck or unluck would have it I was working on an auto parts store directly in front of the body shop that was storing my '06 350 that was totaled by the VW bug. It sat there for two weeks as we worked the job and then one day a dirty beat up cab over roll-back turned off the highway and pulled into the yard. I told my guys - "he's here to pick her up".

Now I had a brand new 350 sitting on the job that I love to this day but there were a lot of miles and memories that left that day on that wore out rollback.

Well, the old girl did you well. Someone got a good deal on your used machine. I hope they take care of it.

I also hope your new ride gives you the same kind of service.
