Hello I changed the tracks to steel with rubber pads because the rubber ones rubbed on the final drive housing. The rubber tracks take more hp to run as well.
The steel with rubber pads are tougher, you can drive over rocks, trees and things like that. When you drive a rubber track machine you are to scared to do that because you will wreck them.
I did not want tracks that fail.
I have been driving a new Cat 259D ( Rubber Track.) you have to be so careful when you turn or drive on rough ground, with these tracks it does not matter. Can still run over concrete and roads and not hurt them

CTL Backhoe Shed site.

Hello again Have been doing a shed site and grading up a driveway.
Pushed over the trees with the CTL, the ground was steep and there was broken stumps, concrete and steel on the ground.
Could not use the Venieri backhoe because of tyre damage until it was cleaned up.
The steel rubber tracks are realy good, do not have to worry about rubber track damage from steel and cut off old stumps in the ground.
The Venieri has a grader on it.

Yair . . .

mjt. Interesting to see some of the old ways are being preserved . . . we used to use split sections of suitable sized pipe to rebuild sprocket's if they were gone too far to re-profile with weld.

Idlers and rollers were rebuilt to size and I have even rebuilt track chains and of course track plates were relugged and new ones fabricated from Assab or similar if needed.

All these practices are rare now in a world of mass production but necessary in remote areas back in the dark ages. (big grin)

I must say you have some uncommon and interesting machines.

Cheers.
