Well thanks for the interest from yall. I really do appreciate and enjoy seeing other peoples jobs, equipment, etc... As much as I love seeing the big stuff, I like the average size contractors doing all kinds of work or the little fry like myself the most.. It would be under Parr!$h Exc@vation.. I will be releasing my summer line of apparel with my username on it....hats, t shirts, belt buckles, etc... LOL Joking. I'd never.

LOL!:thumbsup

I've never been fond of groups or organizations who just pat each other on the back and give each other awards. The same people and the same awards, day in and day out.

Great work, btw.;)

With all your t-shirt and hat money you may be able to buy another truck to haul your low boy haha. Looking good as usual! Where did you get all your info on turbo sizing vs injectors etc?

Not saying buy one now as they are absurdly expensive, but a tilt rotator on a 14 ton zero tail machine would be perfect for your work, barely any hand labor with one...

Yeah, but it looks like his machine doesn't have aux. hydraulics, so it would be difficult to put one on it. Maybe on a new 314E

I just don't know about a tilt bucket. My machine does have aux hyd output It's just not plumbed. Can you stick a 42" GP bucket on a tiltorator and dig rock???? I've seen $17k for them.

I did just pass one year on my rubber tracks and that was the best $10k I've spent. I'll be getting a new machine next year and will be doing my research on tilt buckets. I need to talk to a guy who has dug through all types of earth and rock for at least 5000 hrs to get a real world idea of how they hold. Of course I'd love to have one and see....

I'd love a tilt rotor accept it costs 20k nzd for the unit then another 10k nzd to
Fit. And thats for a 5t machine.

If I was you fast dirt id get a hydraulic tilt hitch, that way you can change buckets quickly, and tilt all your attchments. Probably a jb powertilt or similar. You'll wonder why you never had one.

I know of a company near me that runs helac powertilts on several of there 15T size machines and they've always been happy with them. I know a couple of them have had 6K hrs on them when they traded. They do all sorts of tough digging and rock work. They are a nice unit, and add a lot of utility to a machine. A rototilt would be awesome, but its just a ton of extra money. I love the tilt buckets that I have, they make grading and clean up work so much more efficient.

Hey FD, very happy to see you posting pics again. Definitely some nice scenery you were working in. Sad to hear you are only joking about your clothing line though;) seems like some of the same people have invaded youtube as well.

I like rototilt it's but they only tilt 45 degrees. As far as I know Helac has one that will rotate and do 90 degrees on the tilt. The 90 degrees is what I would like for digging the walls of the pools. If you do any investigating on them let us know. At one point in time Geith and Helac were going to do something together but I heard that fell thru.

On the tilt bucket/ tilt hitch thing, my two cents on the matter is go with a normal hitch and a tilt bucket over a tilt hitch as when you go to lift sum thing heavy you don't have the extra weight on the end of your stick( drop off your bucket all together or lift with your dig bucket) when you go to dig rock you have more crowd power without the tilt hitch ( a contractor here had a tilt hitch and was mainly loading river run and digging boulders and it fell in two after a few years on a 320 cat) when working in trees you don't have the two extra hyd lines running all the way down the stick.
I have run a tilt bucket on my cat 311cu for the last 5500hrs and find it good ( 311,s don't like any extra on the end of the stick than you need to run) I'm very impressed with the work that you do with a dig bucket but can see that you would just love the job you will get with a 1800mm or 2000mm smooth edge tilt bucket! Ps only get a twin ram tilt bucket as a signal ram one will tilt faster one way than the other and it in a pain .imo.
On the new digger thing I'm looking to change my 311 soon ish , will look at the new 311f I think but have done a few hrs on a mates new 312el and am very impressed with the 312e very smooth.( done my apprentership on a 312bl and 320l so have yellow blood a bit! )

Oh on the past 45deg thing you can cut the walls to any angle with the side of the bucket , I e if you need more than 45deg you tilt the other way and use the cutter bar or side of the bucket as both tilt bucket or tilt hitch that go to 90 deg you still only have as much dig as you have slew power to keep it cutting! Hope you get what I mean ? Hard to write what I'm thinking some times!

I dont think the extra 300 or so mm extra difference between a std hitch and tilt hitch matters too much. Tilt buckets become a pain in the ass having to hop in and out all day taking off and putting on hoses, and easy to catch a hose on something too where as the tilt hitch hoses are all tucked behind the front ram.
Bonus thing about a tilt hitch is the fact you can tilt any attachment, clean up bucket, rock bucket, ripper etc

Trentnz Yes the getting in and out to change hoses is a pain but I think the extra 300ish does make a difference to your breakout power, yes the hoses are out there but most of the time when dealing with trees( when hoses get stretched most often ) you run a tooth bucket anyway.
I guess it's a 50/50 choice?

Looks easy but it was brutal digging. It was almost solid rock but looks like dirt to the builder LOL. I put on new penetrating teeth and it helped a little. I made the mistake of grabbing onto one of those teeth and burnt my palm. Ouch.
