Hi, I bought a new idler for my Komatsu PC 220-5. I need to change the spring over from the existing idler and think to myself that this is a job that could hurt if not done correctly.

Any one have any tips on the best method of attack?

cheers

Good day d4dozer
We suggest you take the assembly to a track shop, we have information that these components can indeed prove risky.
Kind regards

If you are not changing just the spring itself and not working on the adjuster cylinder, there are only four bolts holding the "Idler cushion" as Kommie calls it to the idler side blocks. Piece of cake.
