G'day Guy's,
Well it has been ages since I've read this forum and came across this thread off goggle and man what a great thread. Everything I've done over the last few days on this 1840 like check pressures so machined up 3/8-18 thread with a 1/4"bsp thread. Worked a treat for all pressure testing but only got 400 psi on main pressure test. Testing the left side that worked only 500-600 psi ( but working). The right side dropped to 200 psi and the noise of the pump when right engaged does suggest the brass plate will need a hone and got all the gear here for that.

Cheers Bryan

G'day Guy's,
Well pulled the rear of the pump apart this morning and sure enough the brass disk was heavily scored so honing the scores out, 2 hours in and nearly there. Now as the left side that worked didn't come upto pressure on the second test I'll take that one out and have a look for scoring.

Anyway found some history today as to the failure and yep after a hose change (working in sand) my mate drove 50 metres and it failed.

Gotta say what I've learnt from this thread has been great as I reckon with honed brass plates this ol' 1840 will be back going again with some gusto.

Cheers Bryan

Hi Willie, been about 3 years since I was here and I guess I lost my sign in stuff and had to re-register
So Im not allowed to post now, so Ive got to piggy back this question
I just got a 1840 and had to replace drive motor, got it all put together and I cant find neutral, dont have my guages anymore. Is there a way to adjust linkage without guages
Been awhile, since Ive had a neutral issue
