The dealer where I bought all my stuff from just started carrying Deere this past week. He called me and was teasing with me with a brand new Deere 160 with the plastic on the seat but I already promised Cat I would rent the 312E. The Deere looks good. I see they still put them out with the chrome pipes which is kinda cool.

Nice looking work pics, all of them. Funny how work pics are from the cab or of an empty machine from getting out to take the pic. Wish there was a camera guy to get action.
Pool looks great. You are getting a lot of those lately. Looks like they are amenity pools. You got it made, thanks for posting!!!

You should take the Deere guy up on a demo, I do think you would like it, maybe to much:D Nothing wrong with a little chrome on a machine either.

Sorry for the lack of action pics. I am in the same boat as you, if I am not on the machine it's not moving. I promise to try and get some action shots. Hopefully my brother will be on my job this week and he can grab a few pics.

Nice work as usual! I been wanting to try the Deere 160 but I'm not a fan of my local deere dealer. I've been sticking to Cat because of dealer support.

I think we all have trouble getting action shots!

As always, thanks for posting the photos...I enjoy your updates. We've had on and off rain for months now and the coverage is so random that it's made scheduling a nightmare. I worked until 9:30 the other night to complete a gravel access driveway and parking area trying to beat the incoming "severe" storm. No rain until the next afternoon.

Thanks JNB, glad you like the updates. Same thing with us trying to work things around the rain and the forecast. Not sure which is harder. Supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow but who knows. We are lucky as we have a few jobs that rain does not hurt but it would be nice to finish some of the other jobs:confused:

LC do you have any problems running the 963 in those soil conditions? It looks nasty in the const entrance pic but then nice and fluffy after you grubbed it with the loader.

Hey CM, yes the front of the job as well as one side is nasty. I cold run the 963 in the front area for a little while but not long. The back corner is nice yellow sand, the rest has a thick wet layer of black topsoil. More than likely I will have to do the rest with the excavator.

Nothing like drastic changing soil conditions on a small site.

At least I'm not the only one dealing with it.:D

Current project we're working on one side of the parking lot was undercut 4' and then backfilled with surge stone, #2's, 3 layers of geo-grid and 1' of DGB - and it was still moving slightly in one area when the compactor went over it. Other side of parking lot stable, even after all the rain we've had and backing loaded tri-axles of stone over it.:beatsme

It is hard to believe how things can change in a few feet on a site. They would never go for a 4 foot backfill with rock around here. Sounds like you have a good soil guy or at least one that wants to make sure he is covering himself.

Both - we have a good geotech engineer of record and an owner that doesn't want any problems down the road. The owner understands time is money and once their store opens, they want it to produce revenue without interruptions. That and rock is much cheaper here than your area.:D

Actually there wasn't any way around it. It was the same type grey/green clay that has no bottom that we encountered on the auto parts store job we are finishing up. I liken the consistency to a 1/2 baked cake.

You are lucky and have a good owner that wants it done right. Most of the time the people we deal with want it done cheap and done now. The clay you describe is what we call gumbo. It takes forever to dry out than an eye dropper of water turns it back to paste again.

Got to finish up the clearing job this week. Only thing left is to haul the mulch out and a couple loads of logs.

This site was 3 acres and heavy woods. The tress went from 4 inches to about 20. Once done, we will have loaded out 5 loads of pine. It took 12 hours to grind so I was doing an acres every 4 hours. I would have done it quicker if I had someone on the trackloader raking up and pushing the pile to me.

Great work.

Did you say ya'll had a mulch yard for your grindings? If so what's the end product for it?

Here is a pool I dug the first part of the week. It was not really ready as you can see. I had to go under a bridge inside the building the get in there. They dug about 2 feet of dirt out so i would have clearance.

After the pool, went down to the road job to help finish it up and get it ready for grassing. After that we started conduit on the next section. Take note of the intersection of ditches to get the turn outs right.

I was doing some grinding yesterday and my brother came in with a load of mulch and figured I would get a few pics. Sorry about the sun. Not much I could do about that.

Good shots, seems like the timing on the pool dig could have been a little better thought out, by the GC.

Looks good buddy. Love that dump trailer, I would like to have one in the future.

Is the conduit for power and telecom? There can be good money in running conduit.
