Just a few pics this week. Set more sandbags, a total of 1900 or so. They wanted dozer to scrape on the beach so we rented an 850. It had been stockpiling salt so it was already in rough shape. Worked 3 days and then they pulled the scraping permit. Sorry for the lack of pics with the dozer but it is hard to get pics when you only have a small time window with the tide. In the one pics you can see the start of a new cut for the water to go out.

On the last sewer connection I did I had to go under a 3" water line that was part of the sprinkler system for a warehouse.....they put the warning screen under the waterline. :laugh

I've seen that before also. I dug thru a 1 inch power conduit that nobody said a word about and had no tape and was not on the plans and the electrician wanted us to pay him to put it back in.

You've got to commend the guys for having the foresight to warn the tunnel workers of overhead utilities.

We replaced a 100'+ run of storm pipe next to a city side street on the project I'm finishing up. Line Locate comes out and supposedly the only thing buried on that side of the street is a phone line, gas is on other side - good no problem. Blowing and going laying pipe and snag an old 2" galvanized gas service that was live, as if that wasn't bad enough there is an elementary school across the street.

Took a wooden silt sock stake and fortunately it fit perfectly in the pipe. Sealed it off pretty good, Alagasco crew joked saying - "Ya'll already got it shut off". No hit for us as we had a current Locate # and an "Alagasco all clear" marked on our side of the street.

Sounds like your locators are as good as ours. They usually come out the day after the locate is up. I really like it that way, let's you dig like hell and you hit something, keep on going. We dug up a cable tv and phone line, finished laying the pipe and was backfilling, a guy walks up and asked if we hit something, and then said he was the locator. Whoops!

You were lucky on the gas line. That could have ended bad!

Some more great pictures you've shared LC. I really like the KW dump truck. Wait I mean I love it. That is the exact dump truck I want. I like Pete's in front of trailers but KW's in front of dump bodies. A couple of weeks ago I referred to your pics being so green. What I meant was the trees. It doesn't even look like winter there. Could be a coastal thing but lot's of color for winter.... and those clean machines.

I'm not a fan of utilities. About three weeks ago we were digging in a back yard. All utilities were marked in the front including the red marker paint. Well we were re routing a trench for the sewer line that we knew we would hit that runs to the back street. All of the sudden a cloud of smoke comes from the dirt. We hit the power line. Turns out the utility marker guy just threw some paint down in the front yard for what ever reason. Maybe he couldn't find it and just cheated his way out. So a couple of head GA Power guys show up to investigate and the utility marker guy gets there and says "I guess we bought that one". I learned a lesson that day. Not to trust the utility markings and if there is a street at the front and back of the lot anything is possible.

Fastdirt I assume you have the same locators we do, they probably have a contract with Southern Company. I won't mention the company name.

The problem that locate company has is high turnover of the guys and gals in the field. We may get one locator that actually seems to care out of 5.

You got lucky on the power line Fastdirt.

Thanks Fastdirt. I like the KW's also. I wish the black tri-axle was a bit shorter, it is hard to get around on some of the residential jobs we do. If we ever sell it, I will let you know;).

At least your locator came out. Our guy is always late and I mean always. I do feel for him, I think he is way over loaded with the amount of stuff he has to locate and the area he covers.

Lol, thanks ;) I've been looking at the KW's for fun. Pricey I'll say. My main hauler guy I use has a T800 that he loves and I have come to like it more and more. I do like the bigger hood on the 900 though, especially the 900L but not very practical.

Fastdirt, here are a couple pics for you. I was driving our W900L hauling off some muck and figure I would post a picture of it for you. Busy week, lots of different jobs.

Here is a little wetland job we cleared, mucked and filled.

Nice. These pictures are great.

Dang I do love that KW dump and it even looks good with the bed up showing the tinted glass, dual stack, and 4" lights on the back of the cab. Yall don't mess around. Black with a pintle hitch and all, it really is my dream dump truck . A guy I use often has a T800 and I finally sat in it today and was a bit let down at the size inside. I always though it had a wider cab than it does. I pulled out the measuring tape and measured 67" from window to window. I was thinking it was bigger. I checked my old Ford L9000 and it was at 71". I just measured my 379 and it's the same measurement as the KW at 67" from window to window. Only a factor in my world because I take two guys with me to every job.

Well great pics and jobs again.:notworthy
