Wounder what DOT would if someone made one for the road? one smart move. There is an old Gallon double drum with a set of tires mounted in the middle and a tow bar on the end that would allow you to do about the same thing.

I was told by some old timers, that they used to do that with backhoes and go down the road with them. Stick the bucket in the back of the dump truck and raise the front wheels off the ground. Just pray you don't have to stop fast.

I've seen it done.

That must be an incredibly odd feeling to be doing that type of speed with an excavator that can't even crawl faster than 2 mp/h, kinda like when you take a rubber tired excavator for a spin, my eyeballs nearly popped when I did that for the first time.

yep i do that everyday with my ew170 volvo rubber tired excavator,it does have a few draw backs like flat tires...lol...and they sink like rocks in soft ground, but there is advantages also go from job 2 job without hauling it :D i think mine runs around 19-22 mph or something like that....its nice machine to have for our highway dept ..... we have 2 the other being a deere but i like my volvo lots better :drinkup
