So after a find on a local classefied site i went for a drive 2 hours away to look at an old case 350b track loader. it's old and beat up, not running but for some reason i had to have it. threw the guy an offer around the price of scrap metal and he took it! It has been modified with a mercedes car diesel engine and transmission feeding the case trans through a short shaft. rebuilt the injectors and she fired right up.
The old thing runs ok, hydraulics in descent shape, goes and steers ok. trying to find info on the fluid for the transmision/differential before i start running it. there is a dipstick on side of trans showing a bit of milky fluid and i want to change it but getting conflicting stories of what to put in it. Do the trans and diff use the same oil fill? i see 2 drains on the underside but dont see a fill for the diff. any help be appreciated!

I would suggest a common hytrans or the like if you cant find data on it.

Not sure if its completely the same as an 1150C but the plugs on each side are for the final drives. They take 85W-140 gear oil. There should be a plug on each side on the inside just a little below the bottom of the trans case. These are for filling/checking the finals. The plug in the center drains the trans/torque converter. That uses Hy-tran or equivalent. The dipstick is where you refill the trans/torque.
