I'm in the process of rebuilding an atlas copco breaker and have the cell standing up in the shop now. I put the hydro wrench on it and got 2 of the tie rods out. of the remaining 2, 1 moved a little and the other won't budge. they arent like tie rods i'm used to seeing on a cat or stanley that is a threaded rod with a nut on top. they are just one big bolt. I've tried heat, hydro wrench, and inch gun to no avail. anybody have any ideas?

Get the torch out and split the nut. You have probably spent more than the price of a nut so far and it still isn`t apart.

thats what I spent a good amount of today doing. just laying the rosebud into her, but no budging. Thinking about calling a buddy down at cat and seeing if they have a bigger hydro wrench than I got.

From what I can see on the internet they're pretty special bolts too. Try putting the other two back in, with some lube on the threads so they don't seize, tightening them might take some of the strain off the two that are grumpy. Try tightening the two balky ones a hair with the hydro wrench if they'll go at all, even half a flat might help loosen the threads. Worst case leave the two good bolts in and wash the head off the bolts you can't turn, maybe you can get them out after you pull the thing apart?

catfixer how big a hydro wrench do you have? those bolts can be a $#%%#@$@% & a ^^##&&#^# to get loose sometimes!!! soak them down with Kroil, let it set then put the hydro wrench to it. if you can tap with the BFH where it bolts into with some pressure on the bolt it will usually give up.. good luck

Is it a blind hole or can you see the end of the tie rod thread end ?

Ended up making a wrench out of inch plate and holding the power cell on its side with one excavator and pressing down on the wrench with another. took a couple times flipping it over to get the right angle but we got her out.
