Just had a new road added on my place, my track loader was down so I opted to have a local excavation company do the lay-in. They used a fairly well worn D6H, 1989 build but I did not get the S/N. Looking to sell it but needs rails, full undercarriage as just worn slick, has around 1 1/4" of grouser remaining but rails are rolling an edge to the inside. One other note, the left idler seemed to wiggle through the tension cylinder when in a harder push, tough fix or just bushed? What would a machine like this be worth? Actually really clean, well maintained and could consider no oil use for an entire days work while on my place.

Ought to add, 12,000 hour machine, all hydraulics lines to front cylinders from control station replaced, decent cutting edge and bits, open station with full sweeps.

30-40K would be a good estimate. Is it differential steering or lever steering ?

Had steering thru the shift lever, just a decelerator pedal a brake pedal and the main throttle at the dash/floor. Still at that price out of my range, I am still in the clutch and gears league.

I'm thinking with a -0% undercarriage not a good buy above $30k your looking at a minimum of $15k in parts for the undercarriage and then you still have to install it.....TIO

Close up photo's of the undercarriage would help decide if you need to replace it all or just some components to suit your future needs. It will be a good bargaining chip when discussing the selling price.
Is it an LGP machine ? I see it has the upper idler.

Only parts on the UC not worn slick were segments, they replaced those some few months back as the rails started slipping. Bushings are not worn thru but are thin, rails are less than 10% by measure, the lower rollers are done as are the upper idlers. She needs all and Cat here quoted over $17k for components no labor. Seems the tensioner assembly is also not a easy nor quick fix so I am letting them trade this horse in for their next need. Not a LGP, standard rail and shoes on this.

It's a 25k machine tops in my opinion. Your looking at 15 to 20 k on a new undercarriage with all the fixing.....O have always liked the H series machines.

Aint gonna happen, needs $45k to get out of it as that is what Cat dealer approached them for trade, undoubtedly going to make their money from the new machine and rehab this one to resale or wholesale it off.

a few years back we sold a 22000hr d6h that needed a motor overhaul and tranny overhaul plus a new uc., for $67500, but it was very well taken care of, it was super clean with a working ac and air ride seat.
