Here is the beginning of my next service truck. 1987 KW T-600 with 287,000 original miles on it. 3406B Cat with RTO146- 13 trans and air ride suspension. It didn't look so great when I bought it but a little paint ect. goes a long way. I'm going to put a van body on the back, I started out years ago with a Ford F350 and a van body and always liked the way it was set up.004.jpg

I looked through a few pics and found one of my current truck. 1988 Ford L8000 with a 7.8 liter Ford motor, it's got close to 010.jpg500,000 miles on it and it's getting a little tired. New it was 210 HP with a 6 speed transmission, now with the mileage on it the hills seem a little bit steeper. But it has been a very reliable truck.

Lol the 6.4 was only in a couple year model trucks. The new 6.7 that has been out for years kicks butt. Love em.

Are you building the body yourself or having someone build it?

My truck ( named Frances after the storm that paid for her ) is a work in progress. I keep wearing it out and fixing it up. Next on my list is new paint and re do the bed.

I got my inspiration for a medium-duty service truck from this thread. It's a continuing work in progress, but I'm running and using it now. Here's the build thread on WeldingWeb:

http://weldingweb.com/showthread.php?359231-T-Bone-s-New-Truck-Thread

And the most recent picture I've taken. Since then I've added a job box onto the roof of the front driver's side boxes and hydraulic strut door openers to the 2 front box doors on the driver's side.

^I think it would blind you on a sunny day, although you could fry eggs on it :)

G..G..G..Granville.........!! Fetch your cloth.
Although I can understand the use of lightweight metals to keep overall weight down, in our industry "lightweight" and "durability" are usually uneasy bedfellows ........... personally I can't see that body lasting 5 minutes on a job site.
