I'm looking at a Case 1150D for use on the farm. With around 5000 hours and the convertor has just been replaced. The machine appears to be in overall good shape. It has a 6 way blade and 4 rippers. HP to weight? Thoughts on the speed of the machine? I would appreciate some opinions.

That's a nice sized and all around good machine, it should have a cummins engine in it and with a six way on it, makes for a very handy machine to use and have around, as for hp it should be in that 115-120 range and be in the upper 20,000 lb range.

As for opinions, I like that case dozer myself, they were easy and fun to run, got something done and for farm work were about ideal depending on what you want to do.

You never said if it was a low ground pressure dozer or standard track pads under it or what your wanting to do with it per say, but as for that model of dozer if it is in good shape and the price is right, I'd say buy it and use it.

If it's a D it has a Case 504BD engine with the optional 504BDT turbo if requested, the cummins came out in the E series. Like Randy88 said they are a good machine, handle well with good power to weight pushing and grading. You have 4 ground speeds, power turns, counter rotation, and balanced well.

Hi all im new to the forum and really enjoying it. I have had a 88 model 1150d for four years and I cant fault it yet.
Like sheepfoot said they still had the case engine and they're a handy little tractor , definitely wont go wrong with one
For the farm

Sorry about the wrong engine, I was always told if I'd have bought a D model it would have had a cummins in it like my E does, did the 850D's have a cummins in them then, I was always told they had a 5.9 in them verses the older C model which had the four cylinder case in it?

Randy88, to tell the truth there were several 1150e machines that had 1150d decals during the proto-type stage of the 1150e in the U.S. Once testing was completed the machines were brought in and refitted with kits from the plant to match the parts books, then sold as a demo 1150e w/new paint and decals along with a full warranty. Also the 1150e had the cummins 6-590 to start with (non-sleeved), then latter units cummins 6-830 or the 6T-830 engine (sleeved block) at around 113 HP. The 1155e used the 6T-590 engine. The 850d machine had both the cummins 6-590 and or the 6T-590 for altitude compensated issues.
