Nice pics, always a good day when you can take trees down and burn em. Do you leave the stumps on or take them off before you burn. We usually try to get as much dirt out of them as possible and burn with them still on. The get rid of whats left later. How does that NC clay shake off? Nice pics again.

Nice pictures. How do you like the volvo excavator? What model is it? I can't quite make it out from the pictures etc.

The only excavator i've used that was VOLVO was a mini. Worked well though.

Glad to see someone can burn on top of ground & dont have to dig a pit & have it it inspected .

round here they make ya dig pit as far as trackhoe will dig & put a bunner (air curtain destructor ) on it & cost $150 for them to look @ it & say yea or nay for permit even if pipe or fin on pipe is off by less than a foot

next county over to east & county to north ya can burn on top of ground all they do is come out & make sure its stcked & piled & give ya a permit but not here in this county bunch of bull if ya ask me .

It is getting to the point that the clean air nuts are trying to stop slash burning on residential property. We are allowed to pile it up and burn it during the burning season. Oh ya usually the stump is lopped off first if the wood is good for firewood it is set aside for the home owner to cut firewood out of it. With firewood pushing 180 dollars a cord its worth cutting if you have wood heat. If the wood is millable into lumber its also put aside.

I have tried burning in hole before, but I like buring in a regular pile better. We usually wait until a rain before setting a pile ablaze, so we don't set the woods or anything else on fire (again). about 50% of the time we get burning permits, but that turns out to be a job finding a place that will give you one. Fire dept sends you to the town hall, town hall sends you to another place, and so on. Becomes a pain, so we just set the piles on fire. I have never had a complaint so i'm going to continue on:)

Interesting. Here, you call the local Forestry Dept. office and ask for a permit over the phone. They get the address of the burn, approximate size of the burn and a contact name and number. They then issue a permit number over the phone. 5 minutes tops.....well as long as there isn't a ban or high winds. If there's a burn ban or high winds, then no permits...period.

We, the Fire Department, are pretty hard on unpermitted burns because of the ease of the permit process.

The permit is established through the Forestry Dept. because they handle all fires that are 100 yds. or more from a maintained road.

We burn here all the time. I cleared 20 acres of christmas trees and just pile them into barn sized piles. I had 12 piles going at the some time.
