It got to the point that i only do mechanic work for one company and no one else. But about every year i need a slap up side the head to help me remember why. A guy found out i work on trucks and came out to the shop were i was and ask if i would put a axle in a truck. I said i would look at it. I went and look at it and it is more than a mile down a goat path. I drove back and stoped with in a 1/4 mile from it and started walking .The axle is already back their but it is to far in cooled weather to make alot of trips on foot. I had to chain up my pickup to get back out and started to think about what was i thinking driveing that far. If i go back i will haul my jeep and drive it back to it. Its not a good deal this guy is wanting to buy it but before he does he wants to know if that is its only problem.

I have around 2 hours after hauling my jeep over so i could get some tools back to it. I tryed to remove the right axle some one had removed the nuts already. It has floater tires on wide rims so i tryed to hit the end of the axle with a short handled slege and also tryed to use a axle as a punch but havent jared the wedges lose. I drove to town to get a biger punch and it started raining and then turned to snow. I will go back with the bigest shaft i can find and some stuff to hold it up to use as a battering ram to jar the axle lose. It has a different kind of rear end. The pinion dosent run the ring gear it runs other gear that run the ring gear or thats the way it looks. Something makes me think it needs more than a axle.If i go deeper than a broken axle i will need some money up front.

I got it fixed. I tryed to use a 4foot long steel 2x2 bar as a punch that i sat up on some blocks and hit with a sledge to jar the axle lose but it didnt work. I called the new owner he said he had went ahead and paid for the truck and he came out and ran the loader so we could remove the tire and wheel but that axle was ok so we put it back and took the other side apart it was broken about 2 inchs from the flange. The owner ask what he could do so i put him to work tighting the wheel nuts. The back tires had went soft and come of there beads. He said before that he was going to have a tire guy come out and replace there orings. I told him we could reseat them if he wanted to but he wanted to put new rings in them. Best of all he paid me on the spot.

Isn't that the way it works, the one you take off first is the good one! Got paid on the spot is the best thing!
