Does anyone know the approximate weight of an Allis-Chalmers H-11E?

Engine size/type?

Good old machines--hard to find info

TD25C,

Thanks for the info.

Looking to purchase one that got water in it from not having an exhaust flapper on the stack. May have to tear it down.

No Pick's available, however it was working/running 2 years ago. If it is 6 cyl, I have a rebuilt AC 3500 (167 HP) available.

Bought some land that needs clearing and grading. Have a O & K 1500Z, 1800 Scatrack & '89 JCB Backhoe. Would take too much work/time to do the work with this equipment. Sold my '89 Case 1155E because I wasn't using it much--was in great condition. Go figure !!!!

Thinking about pulling injectors and soaking the cylinders and get it to fire so that it can self-load, otherwise it will be a pain.

Suggestions welcome.

Paul

That sounds like a plan chansey. Might check out this thread www.heavyequipmentforums.com/showthread.php?12200-Cat-D9G-frozen-motor

Yeah, the hd11 is 6 cylinder but it's the 685 / 11,000 series 516 cubic inch engine. I believe the 3500 is the 426 cubic inch used in the old D-21,210, and 220 Allis farm tractors. Not sure how similar the engines are as far as installing the 3500 into the HD 11E. Good luck with the HD11 project.

Check out: http://www.allischalmers.com

I've got an HD11B myself. (And an HD11S for parts.) First fall pushing with it, but so far so good. Noticed today that the tracks need to be snugged up and the engine clutch needs an adjust. Other than that, it's been pushing good!

When I bought the pair, I knew the parts machine wasn't running (water down the exhaust, same as yours). I was thinking that maybe I could get it running and sell it. When I went to get the parts machine, I found out it's been severely stripped of parts! 1/3 of the pads are gone. All of the bottom rollers gone. I pulled the water pump. The guy I bought it from swapped the hyd pump on to the 11B. I still dumped diesel down the pipe though and capped it, just to keep the corrosion from getting worse!

chansey, throwing my $.02 in this my help get your a/c going , if its near power you could put a couple of halogen lights on the block for heat, to help evaporate the moisture out of the cyls. once you pull the injectors, or pull the valve covers off and wedge the valves open with screwdrivers ,and take the intake loose so the moisture has a way out, I have had real good luck with Marvel Mystery oil , here is the TWIST! Heat the M-M oil in a pot before you pour it in, get it as hot as possible , I usually heat it until it flashes on fire, then put it out and pour it in. I use a funnel and a piece of hose if I don't pull the injectors so I can direct the oil into each cylinder, this works really well. I have a 118b Galion grader with a UD-551 Ihc engine, it sat for seven years with open stacks, it was stuck like chuck, did this trick ** through the valves, by the way** she runs like a champ know, hope this might help you ,, good luck

Thanks for that link Andrew_D ,I'l have to look it over as we still have some Allis-Chalmers equipment .

That sounds like a good method to free up an engine GabbyVice27.

Another trick I use when performing a resurrection of a dead engine is after I drain out the old oil & install new filters I fill the engine with new oil through the oil gally. Remove the pipe fitting on the outside of the block then rigg up a plastic (garden sprayer) with needed fittings and pump the new oil in before cranking the engine. This helps lube up the Rod & main bearings and prime the oil pump after sitting idle for that long.
