Hi guys I'm new to to the site, it's great I have to say! My question is that I'm looking at buying 953c with a friend and went to look at one and i see that it has a few codes in it. I didn't really know where to try and find them but I searched them and didn't come up with anything. They are as follows 030, 248f02, 030 600f08, 030 819f02, 079 137f08. I understand that some machines run with codes all the time but I just wanted to know what they were before making the buy. Any help is greatly appreciated and if anyone knows anything that I really should look for would be great too the serial number is 2zn01137 that the number on the side of the tractor frame. Thanks again.

First a question. When you turn the key on and after warning lights on the RH dashboard have booted up, does it show the Words "Event Code" lit up in the RH side ..? If not these events are past events but are not present right now. They just need clearing from memory and you can forget about them.

Here are the explanations of your codes. Generally a Code is identified by 3 factors known as MID CID FMI: -

1. MID (Module Identifier) - The electronic module that registered the code.
2. CID (Component Identifier) - The Component that generated the code.
3. FMI (Failure Mode Identifier) - The mode that generated the code.

030 is the Cat Monitor System
079 is the Hydrostatic Transmission Control

248 is the Cat Datalink. It transfers information from one module to another.
819 is the Display Datalink. That's the link that transfers data from the various electronic modules to the electronic dashboard.
600 is the Hydraulic Oil Temperature Sensor.
137 is the LH Motor Pilot Pressure Sensor.

FMI 02 "Data erratic, intermittent, or incorrect". Erratic or intermittent data includes all measurements that change at a rate that is not considered possible in the real world condition and must be caused by improper operation of the measuring device or the connection to the module. Signal data from a component is present, at least intermittently. The signal is either unstable or invalid as recognized by the control doing diagnostics. Data can be correct sometimes and not at other times. FMI 02 is also used for data that is invalid, such as an invalid state of a parity switch.

FMI 08 - "Abnormal frequency, pulse width, or period". FMI 08 occurs when a frequency of the signal or the pulse width of the signal is not within the range that is expected.

If any of these is an Active Event right now I would first start looking at the harness connections for one that's been subjected to water and/or dirt in it.

Thanks very much no they do not come up as current codes, and thanks for the excellent explanation of the codes. Do you have any idea on how to clear them out?

030.324.05 - Monitor System - Action Lamp - current below normal
079.136.03 - Hydrostatic Transmission Control - Right Motor Pilot Pressure Sensor - voltage above normal
079.168.04 - Hydrostatic Transmission Control - Electrical System Voltage - voltage below normal

Based on those I'd wager at some time you've had a battery/charging system issue. Are they Active or Logged Codes..?

Thanks, a few hundred hours ago it was overcharging and draining the batteries rapidly. had the alternator rebuilt and new batteries and its been great until now. I will be traveling out to the job site personally today. I will ck to see if active and also ck some of the problems/solutions you have posted earlier, will post later

Well I ck'd the grounds and the harness for any bad spots no problems found , the voltage is 28.4 at high rpm , Is that ok? Also the codes all come up as active, the warning light comes on right away and the machine will just stop moving randomly as you drive.

28.4V at High Idle sounds fine for a nominal 24V system. I need to get into the service system and look up some procedures for the 3 Diagnostic Codes you have if they are active rather than logged. It'll take me a couple of days. Meantime PM me an e-mail address and I'll send them to you when I've downloaded them.

Thanks for all the help, it turned out to be a broken wire in the right side pressure sensor [79.136.03] everything tested ok until i got to the sensor, when removed for inspection i noticed the insulation looked abnormal, when i pulled on it it would easily stretch , i was able to shorten and re solder to the original pin , cleared the codes and it works good in the shop, ill take it back to the field and try it out in a couple days

Hi guys I just bought a 1999 953C I pulled it in the shop to do some little stuff to it and when I went to pull it out it would not move. It is throwing a service code of 079 299f13 and 079 299f03. I was wondering if it is just something simple.

I don't know what the codes are specifically but the 079 indicates hydrostatic system, what kind of work did you do to it?

MID 079 is the Hydrostatic Transmission Control
CID 299 is Transmission Lever Position Sensor

FMI 03 - Voltage above normal
FMI 13 - Out of Calibration

Did your "little stuff" include anything regarding that lever..?

The signal from the sensor for the speed/direction control lever does not correspond to NEUTRAL when the parking brake switch is activated. When this diagnostic code occurs, a warning (Category 3) is shown on the monitor. The diagnostic code will cause the transmission to shift to NEUTRAL. After returning the speed/direction control lever to the PARK position, limited machine operation may be allowed at a reduced speed. To correct the diagnostic code, calibrate the sensor. Perform the Calibration for the Speed/Direction Control Lever (submode 07, submode 08, and submode 09).

I reckon that if you re-calibrate the transmission lever sensor both faults will go away. I have the full calibration procedure if you need it. However you'll need to make 3 posts on the forum before you can PM me with an e-mail address that I can use to send it to you. It's far too long and involved to post here.

It would also help to know if your machine is a 2ZN or BBX prefix.

I pit a new reverse alarm on it. It wasn't working so I took that little black box off that has two screws that hold it on below the forward and reverse lever. I really appreciate the help.

I know this is a old thread, but I got the 299f13 code on my machine and was wanting to see how to recal it. My email address is kcain@ur.com. Its a 2ZN unit. Thanks

Thanks for the info. Can the micro switch for the neutral cause the loader to kick in & out of gear? Got a 070f03 - 299f13 still coming up. Going Monday to get a new sensor.
