Sorry if this is a basic question but I'm trying to figure out what this part is in the boom section of this crane and what is it's purpose. The crane is a Liebherr HS855 HD. It's a duty cycle lattice boom crawler crane so it's used for clam/dragline type work. Here's a photo and one clipped from the sales brochure.

Thanks in advance.

G..G..G..Granville.........!! Fetch your cloth.
Have you got a photo taken from the RH side of the boom and a bit closer..? One of the first things that crossed my mind when you said grab (clamshell) service was the attachment for the tagline that prevents the bucket spinning, well it does on a single-rope grab anyway.

usually the tagline winder (rudomatic) goes about 40-50' above the boom foot pin. this device is way to low for that function.

Yep, coiled up anti two-block wire. If you look just below it to the left (about 7:00 of the red circle) you can see the modular plug connector that connects the wire to termination point.

Thanks for all the replies. So basically this just holds wire for a sensor? I read up on anti two-block and I understand it's purpose but not really how they go about it doing it.

A2B is just a weight hanging from a lever sensor. when the block comes up and makes contact with the hanging weight it trips the switch. The switch in turn cuts out the hydraulic functions that would make the condition worse. AKA boom out, and winch up.
