I am Hoping that one or some of you can give me some advice on my problem with this TD 8 E Dozer, the problem is something to do with the Transmission, You can work it all day in 1st, and it want lose a drop of hyd. oil, but get in 2sd or 3rd forward or reverse, and the oil is not going to last long, i can see in coming out from the Belley Pan, but cant tell where its coming from, seems like it would have to be a line up in there some where busted, i guest my question is to get to this tran. do i need to pull the cage and seat, floor boards up, to get at it, i have not droped the belly pan, but it looks to be coming from above, if i have to pull the tran. does it come out from above. we have to fix this Machine our self, because the cost would be about what the machine is worth, we have had this machine for about 10 years now, just use it here on the farm, & this is the first time we have something that is not a quick fix, for what we need a dozer for it fits our need very well, Just to slow to have to stay in 1st all the time, moving across the field to a new location seems to take for ever, Thanks for what ever light You'll can shine on my Problem

I forgot to say that This Old Dozer is a Dresser TD 8E, I am hoping that some one that is Use to working on this type Dozer can give me some pointers as to where this Hyd oil is coming from, and how to go about getting to it, one Guy told me that if i pull off all the stuff on the top side, he thinks it is coming from around the Value body on top of the transmission, if any of you have any ideas, i am ready to hear them >< Thanks

I have a similar problem with my TD7, all gears work fine and I don't notice the leak after it's been running for some time. But on start-up it occasionally pukes hydraulic fluid out from the breather that's on the torque converter. Pull the right engine cover off and the breather will be behind the engine on the right side, right about where the dash/firewall is. I have a TD7 C, but I believe they both use the same torque converter. I would also pull the belly pan just to get a better idea of where the leak is coming from.

stuckzb thanks for your input, i will check this out, our problem is only when you try to use 2 or 3rd, so it seems that it is happening some where after the slector valve, run in 1st and we lose no fluid. but i am going to check for this breather that you are pointing at to see it there is anything going on there, i think we will walk it up on some timbers and drop the belly pan, i am sure it could use some cleaning out,

More than likely it is a hose leaking coming from your range selector valve to the transmission and you should be able to see it if you lift the floorboards. I can get you parts and service manuals pretty cheap if you need it.

If I have a few originals I could sell you one but usually I sell copies of manuals (Professional Copies) in a binder......... Parts $75-$100 depending on size of the manual ... Service is about the same $100-$150 ... depending on size..

Engine manuals (service and parts) are separate from the chassis manuals, that is just how International did things.. You can see my website at www.cpecanada.com.

Getting warmer here every day now .. You should come see us.

I don't know How much difference that will make in you advice, i think it will still be the same, it may make a difference in the Chassis Manual, That is what I am interested in Getting my hands on, I see Your web site, is that the way i go about getting one, Will the Chassis Manual show all this area that we are talking about, and how to go about fixing different parts other than the Engine>< do i go through Parts or what, Thanks a Bunch for The Help Durt,

more than likely you are leaking from the range selector valve on the transmission itself . You will need to get the guarding and possibly the seat and floorboards out of the way. There is not a lot of room underneath when you take the pans off but you might need to. I can help you with books and parts if you like..
