The body is slightly raised, it just installed after painting.

Look how small the tires look compared to the body of the truck. It is definitely much bigger than the previous model especially when it comes to height and length. The operator cabin seems so high in the air... After all it is a hundred and ten tons heavier (360 tons total) than the previous model. Now we only have to see how it performs.

I think its time to start to do a bigger tires. But all the problems with transportation of the tires more than 4 m in diameter.

Now having this truck alive it will pass a long time before a bigger one is being made. The 400 ton class trucks lasted for like almost 10 years. Now it will probably be at least 5-6 or even 7 years until we see 600 ton or 650 ton truck. Probably Cat and Liebherr are going to make their own 500 ton class truck but still it will take a lot of time until a bigger one is created. And lets not forget that excavators must grow in size as well.
We must also mention that this truck is an absolute beast! It is not only about the tonnage. It is 4x4 and this makes enormous difference and is a complete innovation in the huge dump truck class. All other smaller dumpers are 4x2.

This may have been posted before (apologies if it has) but does anyone else here think this truck resembles a large version of a Payhauler, and based on previous experience of said trucks in the past what chance of success do our readers think Belaz might have with a similar (but much larger) design..?
One thing that as an engineer I picked straight up on was in the photo on the previous page that shows the fuel tank supports. They must be at least 1 metre long cantilevered off the truck chassis. How long are they going to last when subjected to the weight of a tank full of fuel and the impact of operations before they start to crack, or worse still crack the frame rails in that area..?
I also think they are going to have serious problems with weight distribution in order to get a 50/50 front/rear axle weight split when the truck is loaded.

The fuel tanks were in the process of being placed. I really doubt that they are going to hang there... The picture was probably taken while they were being placed but who knows you might be right...

You may be correct but even if the tank was eventually going to be turned round 180 degrees so that instead of overhanging the supports as shown in the photos it was supposed to hang inside them I'm still not comfortable with the total suspended load multiplied by the length of the moment arm (the tank support). I still think it's either under-designed or badly designed.

Nige: You are right, It Does look like a massive 350 Payhauler! On the topic of tank supports, when I first saw them I thought they looked awful weenie (Small) as well. They don't even seem to be heavy enough for a triple 7. It almost looks like the trunnions are on the wrong side of the tank & then the base of the tank could fasten to the frame rails, but even still the top supports would still be an awfully long lever.

If my math is right those 2800L tanks will be holding in the neighborhood of 6,200 lbs. of fuel and this doesn't even count the weight of the tanks! That's a lot of torque when multiplied by the length of those arms. Plus add in the inertia of that weight when the truck hits a dip in the road at full speed. I'm no engineer but can appreciate the concerns of Nige.

The design (well the length of the arms) struck me as strange comparing them to every other type of truck I've ever seen. Normally fuel tank supports are pretty short, they stick out maybe 12-15" at most from the chassis. The tank structure has 2 stub shafts that sit in the supports and something like bearing caps to clamp them down from above. Lastly there is a lower mounting that bolts on to the inside wall of the tank. The tank itself then becomes the cantilever and it's not unknown for the larger size tanks to spring leaks after a few years of use, usually as a result of a cracked weld on one of the outermost seams.

The design seems incredibly solid... The truck might be ugly but who cares... It is like a brick so robust.
