Well, guys I just found this site. Its AWESOME! I have been around Wabco scrapers my entire life. Granddad ran D pulls, Dad ran a B70/333 and an early 252. I got put on the 252 at age 13, Such a long time ago. The amazing thing is I didn't find this earlier! Im actually in one of the pics posted of the Mourer 353 auction. I was their "acting Master mechanic" on a temporary basis leading up to the auction.

Showpony; We started by recoing the alternator and the transformer still had the problem (mind you we found probs in both Alt-Tran) so then check and test all wiring some minor problems, but at every fix a small improvement, also it had an late model electronic rectifier, which when we testing it did every thing correct, instead of a selenium rectifier, then we had some heating problem. At this point my engineer realizied it was running to efficient so we had to build an oil bath rectifier because we had to burn off some extra power, in which we used the old rectifier container and the engineer made some elements to live in the old rectifier container and all runs a 100%.

Meanwhile, The 111A sat around for about a year and when we had all the electricail problem fixed the Transmission started leaking oil. So all out again fix trans put back together and of to work. The motor, trans, alt, has been in and out 3 times in a year so we know it well know

So Thanks to all you guys that helped with your input and support getting her back on the job
Cheers Leroy

Great stuff Lee getting the bugs out can really test you, youd better post pics of the 111a in action. we havnt started on our one yet, fortunely all the electrics are working. its just bearing, shafts and seals for the elevator gearboxs, a radiator replacement, and she should be good to go.

GOOD looking 252! I haven't even seen one in person since around 2002 in my area. I really miss my old Pet.

The project looks amazing. I flew into Wellington yesterday and got a great view from the air. Thanks for sharing the photos which really show the scale well.

We are building a wind farm in Wellington. The photos don't show some of the wet clay we've got, just crap with a CBR of less than 2.
Stats are 35km road, 850'000m3, 29 turbines. Steep site.
66 machines on site,
7 dozers, 3 scrapers, 22 dumpers, 20 excavators, 3 x 825c, 5 rollers, 2 graders, 2 watercarts, 2 loaders.
Real windy and cold at moment, gusting up to 140km/hr in a bad day.
Working 7 days a week but averaging 5 with the weather. about 3 of those days that are at full production as you struggle to get going after rain.
It's great to have a big job again even though its a bit tough at present.
Cheers

Love it Aussie Leroy. And...even though I was using earbuds, the wife gave me "that look" because of the noise. I replied "sorry, it's a Detroit, didn't mean for you to hear it" (Geezzz, a Detroit can even be heard by folks when you're using earbuds!). :D

And I love the choice of tune, Ballad of Jed Clampett, by Flatt and Scruggs.

Thanks willie59. Its funny you say noise, But for me i call it pure sweet Music to me ears. All around the world that tune it's so well known, in Australia it was known as the Beverly Hillbilly's. Cheers Leroy

And you would be correct Aussie Leroy, that tune was used as the theme song for the TV show "The Beverly Hillbilly's" back in the 1960's. ;)

Tidy 111A Leroy.
Pretty tough day driving two machines by yourself.
Ground conditions look wet so that must add to the challenge.
Scraper loads good with the teeth on.
Real advantage over flat edge and we even found it effective with open bowls as well!
Cheers
Stan
