I have been lurking for a couple mounths ,I just upgraded boom trucks (I'll be carefull not to call it a crane seems to be a touchy subject ) so I figured its a good time to join in. I'm a building contractor this makes my fourth boom truck, up grading every time. I got my 2006 32105 elliot with a sitty down thing on it ,on the road last week,I'll send picks when I figure out how to reconfigure pictures.

What kind of building construction do you perform?

small commercial, farm buildings and custom homes. I've done way to much concrete work and my shoulders and knees are showing it.I am a farm boy and have been running equipment from when I had to jump off the seat to hit the clutch, I love running the crane and its one "H" of a lot easier on the bones

I hear ya' on that!:drinkup What little concrete work I do makes me really appreciate the guys that do it everyday, it's tough work and when the mud starts flowing there is no stopping. Mistakes are expensive and one is dealing with a "perishable" product. Concrete guys earn every $ they get.:thumbsup

First time with multiple parts of line

I think I figured it out That resizing is a nasty process to figure out (posting a pic). This me setting up a washing plant that I tore down last fall , and yes I'm about an inch into my A2B, I miss judged how much the plant would tip up, But don't worry I was watching it

all the big heads checking a sewage pump for its one year check up
a 70 x 140 riding arena I had to set from inside there wasn't a good place to set up outside it took 3 set ups. It was my first full days work with the new ride :drinkup

Yair . . . Tradesman. I was surprised to see those timber trusses, almost unheard of over here . . . anything that size is steel.

Common down south as well.

Those long span wood trusses won't be seen very much in southern or central coastal California...seismic issues primarily due to diaphragm rigidity...we have tried a few variants by stiffening the column connections at both the base and the truss connection point and therefore resolve the engineering issues, but the truss company 'only' uses 2x4s and 2x6s therefore they become the next obstacle in the system...here we are: no snow, not much wind and no go.

These cranes are appreciated for all those jobs like AC units on roofs, roof materials, inspections in a man basket, residential house trusses, etc etc. Does the crane have an extension piece that is on the other side of the boom and isnt seen in the pics?

What thoughts do you have on those 'boom tip looking down' cameras?

They are big trusses but fairly common these trusses are even 4'-0" OC. a few years ago they would have been 32"OC. I have a jib but don't have it installed, I always need more horizontal reach not hight . I just bought a Go Pro camera I thought I would mount it on the boom tip should get some cool picks , the real moniter cameras are some big bucks

Sorry to hijack but what species of wood and from what source do they get it down there? Pines from NZ or is there structural wood grown on the mainland?

70's are fairly common they are at 4 ft. oc. a few years ago they would of been at 32" oc. they are spuce with fir at the heels where the compression is greater,our lumber comes primarily from northern Ontario

Yes bought it over a mounth ago but they haven't taken it off their sight yet, I talked to the salesman he said when they get calls over it they lead them to other machines in there inventory.
I think it was your Dad I talked to about challenging the 339C , just filed my papers yesterday with the Ministry. Please thank him for the considerable time he spent on the phone with me.
