I have a friend and he has this cat 345C excavator. The problem is when turning the engine stops. Also when working the engine rpms slow down, sometimes it stops. When cold the machine starts fine.
They changed fuel filters, but still problem persists. Do you have any clue?

does it stop like the motor dies? or electrical short everything dies? does it restart right away or not for a while? can you dig and drive it and it only dies when turning?

It doesn't start right away. If you wait a few minutes, starts fine. Sometimes when turning it dies, sometimes is working and dies.

G..G..G..Granville.........!! Fetch your cloth.
When it dies pull off the fuel filter and check to see that there is fuel in it. Another idea would be to temporarily install a line from the fuel pressure test port into the cab to a gauge and watch the gauge while working. Does the fuel pressure drop significantly when the engine dies..?

Also is it throwing any electronic diganostic codes..?

Thanks Per. I was googling and found that I have to keep pressing the switch 8, press and hold 3 and 4 together for more than 2 seconds to enter service mode it´s that right?

I would like to know how to check fuel fittings for screens from tank to pump. How often do filters need to be changed?
