ASV RC30 controls

My operator was just using my rc30 yesterday and the machine just suddenly stopped working. The machine runs fine but none of the controls work with the safety bar down. it is just like the safety bar is up, there is no load on the engine or anything when you try using the controls. Has this happened to anyone? I checked all the fuses and relays what else should i check?

I think you are on the right track here remember the machine has a seat switch as well that will stop machine if not functional. It is very easy to temp bypass either, when looking at the bar switch, you can bypass it by putting a magnet next to the sensor' or just do it by the wires. Be safe, and remove bypasses when done!

do you have a door? my door switch always moved around and wouldent line up? I believe there is a safety relay in the fuse panel. try jumping it with a paper clip

the machine doesnt have a door so theres no door switch, i will look into the seat switch i already tried the bar switch. thanks guys

well guys i bypassed the safety switches on both the bar and seat as well as checking the fuses and swapping out the relays and still have no luck. Any other guesses before i ship it off to the dealer? thanks

Would be good if a wiring diagram was included in the service manual. Does anyone know where to get one on line?

Maybe you have an open circuit on the output side of safety relay/fuse.

Jeff45 had the problem. I suggested a wiring diagram at my dealer, but they are not available.

I haven't had time to look at the machine, I will be looking at it this weekend hopefully. I will let you guys know once I find out

I also have an asv30 with an electrical problem. I asked Terex both the home office and a local dist. for a copy os the wire circuts and they promptly sent them. Very well detailed and great service from them. Grover

Regarding my ASV30, they are now called pt30 by Terex, but I think the cat engine is now a 4cyl, Grover

Also got a copy of wiring diagram here in Australia via dealer. Just had to ask the right person!

I know this is an old thread but, what was the final outcome of the problem? I am currently having the same problem with friends ASV RC30 and he has no mechanical skills at all. any help would be appreciated!

Wiring diagram should be available by asking the right person at your local dealer. Not sure if available on line. You can get full circuit wiring detail along with hydraulic detail.

Thanks Tony, I have a Diagram but, was hoping for a more direct answer from him or someone else who had the similar problem. I pull the seat out and double checked the seat switch and the Bar switch/ magnets. I will just have to keep looking.

Jason, I don't have a diagram handy to look at but you need to trace the full length of the circuit. Pos or neg will travel via seat switch, safety bar etc then operate a relay/ solenoid to allow the hydraulics to move. The problem may even be the relay/ solenoid and all the wiring checks out ok. Use a test lamp or multimeter to check continuity in the wiring.

Thanks Tony,
I replaced most of the fuses whether or not they needed it. I did do a bit more searching and found a suggestion of listening for the solenoids to click when lowering and raising the seat safety bar. With the ignition on but, engine not running I sat in the seat and lowered and lifted the bar several times listening for the solenoids to click... The suggestion was that the sound would come from below my feet. I believe part of my problem was the battery was so dead, I had to jump it to start it and that some of the electrical things weren't working right. When I did the test I didn't hear anything ( dead battery) I left a trickle charger on the battery over night and then did the test but didn't hear anything. Then I put a magnet next to the safety bar switch and then heard the clicking both from the bar and from me lifting my butt to trigger the seat safety switch as well. I was able to hear them both after that however, I noticed the clicking sound coming from below and behind me. I think the magnet reset the safety switch once the battery had a little bit of a charge in it. I started it and everything was working fine! I will put a new battery in when the owner is ready to by one. Thanks for the help and info Tony and to the other people on this site for the suggestions.

Glad you got it working. The safety and low flow solenoids are behind your calves, as you sit in the operators seat. pull the floor pan out and look at the end of the aux pump. Solenoids look like modern snow plow solenoids, about $60 a pop from dealer. I had to do the solenoids on mine a year or so ago.

I too just lost power on my RC30.
I came across this thread and found it to be very helpful.
I suspect it to be the seat switch so I yanked off the seat today and found the switch had been removed along with the seat harness.
The machines harness was intact except where someone had shoved a U shaped piece solid copper wire into the female contacts.

So, with that in mind and the fact that as the 2nd owner I have operated it since 2006 ( it is a 2004 ) what might be the first thing to attempt here?
I did try the magnet next to the safety switch on the bar but there was no audible clicking.
