We ran 101's and D's in the late 60's through the mid 80's. I really enjoyed the D's they were alittle warm in summer but throw a windshield on them and they were cozy in the late fall and early winter. When I read Lekas comments about the king pin on the 101's it brought to mind when the 4 front trunion bolts on one of our D's snapped when I was cruising back to the black dirt stockpile, I was in top gear flat out it really got my attention!!!!!

I have had this exact thing happen on my first D-pull.
Seems there was a lot of stress on the trunion caps and bolts.
I don't think I was going too fast when it let go, but not a pleasant experience!!

Great pics of the 101. The 2nd one we had was fitted with an A/C cab from the factory. Very flash!!!!

thanks Maurice.

That would let a lot more air flow round the operator not having the hydraulic tank sitting there.

HSV127, yeah we only get digger in to move stuff thats to wet or to awkward like big clumps of that bloody long kikuya grass :), your right about all ways moving, makes the job change shape pretty quick too.

Thanks for your advise the other day Showpony, thats exactly were the problem was.

Leka good to here about other peoples experiences, makes for good reading.

G'day

Just found this site so am brand new, I've had a 101f for nearly 20 years and done a sh*tload of work with it but it blew a motor 5 years ago and I am finally putting it back in so expecting plenty of oil leaks. Great machine, but hard on the kidney's if you go hard, but great fun to drive and very productive for it's size.

Drove a 111a a bit years ago and had the thrill of breaking the front 4 bolts on the way into the borrow pit.

Nothing like clicking the toggle steering on top of a narrow bank at speed and getting no response to loosen any knot's in the bowel.

Love em though

Hey blindpilot, do yourself a favour and zip up to Delungra and buy seat out of a Case magnum "KAB" (airbag & shock absorber). Put one in my 101F last year, now a pleasure to operate.:)

Check your plantetries

wabco sun gear axle.jpg Had a leaking wheel seal and while in the process of strip down, found the sun gear in the planetry was looking for retirement. Glad I bought a few core spare parts several years ago.
All bolted back together now, off to work Friday.:)

Hoss's new toy

The old girls finally home, theres a lot to do but its all there, this 111a was a real pearler but the previous owners have shown us, what can be acheived by ignoring oil leaks and funny noises.

Wabco not at work!Dissassembled elevator box from 101F. At least it wasn't the input shaft. While we're in there, we'll replace the other bearings & seals along with some $17/litre sythetic oil. :)

Hi. About 10 yrs. ago I was in eastern Oregon in Hermiston. I saw a Wabco scraper. It was a paddle-wheel & double engined! It was huge! I talked to owner- he told me approx. earth moved per hour- it was a lot. Two brothers owned it. One was the operator & the other was the grade-checker. Both engines were screaming Jimmy's! I cant remember the model #???!!! I thought it said 666? The owner said it was really rare scraper! I wanted to try it out so bad... Can anyone help to refresh my memory! I took pics of it, but cant locate??? Thanks!

Thanks

Thanks to Steve (weaknees) for coming to the rescue. :thumbsup Good advice on changing the roller to a barrel type bearing next to the flywheel too. The 101 is working and earning once more.

Showpony; We started by recoing the alternator and the transformer still had the problem (mind you we found probs in both Alt-Tran) so then check and test all wiring some minor problems, but at every fix a small improvement, also it had an late model electronic rectifier, which when we testing it did every thing correct, instead of a selenium rectifier, then we had some heating problem. At this point my engineer realizied it was running to efficient so we had to build an oil bath rectifier because we had to burn off some extra power, in which we used the old rectifier container and the engineer made some elements to live in the old rectifier container and all runs a 100%.

Meanwhile, The 111A sat around for about a year and when we had all the electricail problem fixed the Transmission started leaking oil. So all out again fix trans put back together and of to work. The motor, trans, alt, has been in and out 3 times in a year so we know it well know

So Thanks to all you guys that helped with your input and support getting her back on the job
Cheers Leroy

Great to see her alive and kicking again!

Such a shame that American Standard decided to stop WABCO, I still think, that even today, they are the best scraper ever designed
Jim American Standard ,sold wabco to G.E not anof$ for them off loaded to Dressa end up with Komatsu(kumagutsa)
