We have several pieces of older equipment that are in need of some attention as far as sealing up the cabs.Everything we run has a cab on it and, some of the said pieces have a pretty good gap(1/2''-1'') where the cab meets the "rest" of the machine. On some of the stuff the sealing materil is completely gone.It appears that originally there was a piece of weather stripping between cab and machine, square, with adhesive backing on one or more sides. What would be an aceptable material to use to fill a gap that large.I've used that grey foam before, which only lasts a short period of time before it disintegrates.I'm looking for an OEM replacement material and where to buy it.I have a pretty good idea of what I'm looking for; a more rubbery yet squishy type of stuff, that is U/V resistant. Make sense?I'ts kind of hard to describe, but I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about.Next, some of our equipment used this stuff called "rock wool".It comes in hard sheets about 1"-3" thick whitch was then covered by means of spray adhesive, with a perforated material.I have the material to cover the rock wool, just not the rock wool itself.I have checked several hardware stores, including Home Depot, with no success.Where can I get this stuff ,or something like it?Again,I'm sure most of you guys know what it is,a kind of yellowish stuff you can cut with a knife.Sort of like that blue styrofoam you put around basement walls before you backfill, but not quite as brittle. It's hard to explain, but if you've seen it,you know what I mean. Thanks for any help,as I'm usually pretty good at finding things that will work, but this has me stumped.I figured if anyone would would know,it would be the guys on this forum.Sorry for being so long-winded,as I wasnt trying to write a novel here.Thank guys!!

Curb guy I've used foam pipe insulation with good results. You can buy different diameters. Some times I leave it as is and compress it into large gaps. Some times you have to cut it into smaller strips to fit. It doesn't seem to degrade, it's cheap and stays put pretty good just by stuffing in the gaps.. The stuff I got from Home Depot seems more like a plastic foam and not rubber.

If you're looking for Rock Wool, check our Roxul's website. If they don't have a retailer in your area, Lowes should be able to special order it for you as they are a retailer where I live. The "new" name for Rock Wool is Mineral Wool which is search engine friendly. As for cab seals, you might take a look at neoprene sheet; 1/2" to 1" thick. Pretty common and priced right. Its UV resistant and will last quite a while.

there are some companies out there that sell bulk cab foam. foam with the perforated vinyl already attached. then you cut it to fit and attach with contact cement.
