Just wonderin if anyone out there has had any problems with G960 volvo 17.5x25 bf tires with wing bouncing in snow after 9th gear .Most graders will bounce at a certain speed but you can get above or below that.I have messed with tire pressure up down crosswise.Put calcium all around and that helped a little.I really believe that 17.5 x25 tires are too small but volvo says no.Looking fer input Thanks

I'd say tires is big enough.
Have found out that our 976's also starts bouncing when getting to fast. I'd say 9th on the 11 speed box.
This is the big issue when speed grading. :)
I just slow down and then increase again, most times it dosn't come back.
To me it seems that the amount of torque aplied may be the trigger of the bounce.
When it starts, i have found the only hing to do is to reduse the speed and try again....

Our 960 seems to need to slow right down before it will quit bouncing. Will agree it is to do with torque.Wonder if it is just me,i am used to pre emission ,pre electronic more you stomp on it smoke blowing torque as opposed to lower rpm fuel pinching torque,I also been thinkin i should raise tire pressure above 50 psi.

rotate the air pressure in your tires. like having 65 psi in the rt front and the left rear and then 70 psi in the left front and in the rt rear. we have had some customers with this same issue and that is what has solved it. good luck

Ya after three years i have finally tried more air and yes you are correct 65 -70 lbs does work however it is way above tire manufacturer specs for a l2 g2 17.5x25 vkt tire and also gives you no traction when it has that much in it.Which leads me back to the origional thought that it is a traction issue, and larger tires would allow the increased traction at the higher tire pressure just on the larger footprint, but volvo will not put larger itres on a g960 platform. We also run fluid all around which also made a huge difference to the way the autoshift works

I bet the dutch guy's got a lot of solutions for bigger rims and tires for a G960...
I have seen some pics of realy wide tires on 900 series in Netherlands.
But, i bet those solutions is not cheap..

Found a 726, as a example from a ducth firm.

Ya i think myself volvo doesn't have it quite figured out.Dealer says can't won't fit I through reading specs on 970s know it should

I had 17.5/25 bridgestones and switched to Michelen snoplus.
These tires are excellent for plowing, with way less bounce and great traction.
you can put taller tires on your 960. Maybe it would be better but the best tire I have run is the snoplus. Not as good in the mud obviously but wore better with no or little cupping and even wear with stiffer side walls.I could run different tire pressures and not have to worry constantly playing with pressures to stop the bounce.
I always ran in AUTO mode and lugged the engine while it shifted up to 11th.I could run there allday unless the snow was to deep or heavy and ran out of power with no bounce. As you already know i would have to be on or off the throttle, putting more down pressure on the moldboard or wing to keep the grader from hopping.Swerving out of a straight line also worked just as it wants to break loose and start to bounce.Hope you get it figured out.

Y a we do have sno plus on our deere, cause it is a lighter machine ,my big beef is 740 champion u did not have to swerve or anything u just speed up or slow down, lots of throttle manageble torque. Its the same base machine with a tier compliant engine why all the trouble. Also just found our articulation anchor are failing 4 a second time.We are told it will be fixed but it is because we have it anchored to the ground too good with tire ballast. Was ridging yesterday and as far as i can figure it acts close to right traction as it does start to break loose and chatter, you back off and it does reconect and away you go.If we liten it you would just spin in 8-10 inches of snow.

It is a bounce and traction on a g960 too much bounce on the road and no traction in ridging etc applications, which i know they are related.I refer back to 740's cause that is the machine the 960 replaced and we had no bounce issues with it as well had good traction. My thing is it is tire size.740s u put 16.00x24 on to reduce bounce, and it worked i think volvo should put at least 20.5 x 25 on or maybe the old tried and true 16.00x24 instead of 17.5x25
