I called Minnpar with the part number for the Clark yellow paint. It is no longer available and they do not have a source. So it looks like my Michigan will be painted Cat yellow.

Most automotive paint stores can scan a part on your machine and come up with a match. Pick a small flat part that has been hidden from the sun for the best match.

Basically I'm having this done to move & lift stuff at my house and to move snow in the winter. In hind sight I would have bought a machine in better shape but this is how you learn. I will have a machine that will always start and run whenever I want to use it. Plus it will now be maintained, which is something it was lacking in the past. The place working on it likes Cat paint, I really don't care if its original. We figure as long as the engine is out it's a good opportunity to do it.

Well we tested the Michigan yellow along with John Deere yellow and Cat yellow. Cat yellow had a mustard tint. Mich and JD were indistinguishable from each other. So JD it is and I can use Mich rattle cans for touch up. I spent about three hours scraping grease/dirt off the machine so they can steam clean it. Then they will paint inside the engine bay and rear of the machine so we can set the engine in.

I am glad to see someone else putting love into an old relic. I just acquired an old Trojan and am about to go down a similar road as you are. I am hoping that mine will need a lot less work as I am on a tight budget but we'll see. Good luck.:thumbsup

Good luck to you, I was able to spend about a hour on mine with a steam cleaner yesterday. One more small step.

Hey, that's a great machine. I just took a quick look at this thread and at first thought I believed you had found the exact machine my neighbor sold at auction this spring. But not likely unless yours had been from minnesota... that's where I live. If I recall correctly,?? my neighbor's michigan had an inline 6 from an oliver tractor model 77 or 88. It ran nice too. Hope it works out well for you.

Clark Loaders were called Michigan because Clark home office and factory was in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Clark also built logging equipment called Rangers.

For the first time in a year and a half the machine can move around under its' own power. They had the bucket propped up to walk around the machine when it was inside, it was full of water and ice. The engine runs better than new, torque converter works great, transmission pressure is above specs. I got the radiator recored, (say goodbye to one paycheck). Now they can get the hood back on. Next is getting the gauges to all work, and fix the steering cylinder leak. I can see light at the end of the tunnel!

Recored radiator in, grille and hood back on. Only big things left are the new master cylinder, and rebuilding of the steering cylinder. Should be back at home by mid April!

I spent the day cleaning up the old girl. Gave her a good grease job. Had some Ford blue on the shelf, made the hubs look better. I was going to try to find an enclosed cab. I really like the looks of this one, so I will try to make some doors for it myself. Today was so cool here, I feel like I'm getting ready for winter. Summer hasn't even started. Of course, here in Vermont we spend five months getting ready for seven months of winter!

Great looking honest loader !! We still run a few old Case warhorses as farm hacks, & used to have an ancient Michigan 35A whci only ever required fuel/oil/grease to rake up mega hours until it terminally expired c.5years ago.

GreenMtnMan,
What part of Springfield do you live in? My dad lived there for a long time. Dunno how long you have lived there but he was a DJ at WCFR. His name is Bill Salati. My Grandfather has a construction company over in Ludlow where I am from. George B. Tucker Inc. Thats a good looking Michigan you got there and glad to see it running again.

I'm not to far from the town garage. They had a late '50s 75A when I was a kid. The town garage was one of my hangouts. I have one of the Oshkosh snow plows the town had. I have heard your Dad on the radio many times.

I was doing some sanding today and found what looks like 'Comare & Sons Stafford Ct.' Anybody ever hear of them?
