genie s65 manlift

I have a genie s65 manlift that while ur in the basket and stopped the machine tries to inch forward like the brakes are not adjusted properly and holding . Is there a brake adjustment or another common problem on these ?

engine running?
foot on the foot pedal?
on level ground?

Every Aerial Work Platform must have brakes that will hold the machine on ANY grade that it can climb.
With engine off.

If there is a problem physically with the brakes, they will not hold the machine on a grade.
Drive the machine up the highest grade available and see if it will hold itself in place with the engine not running.
Try this in both the upslope and downslope positions.
If the machine holds, then the brakes are probably physically ok.

Stopping distance from highest speed to stop is 3 to 6 feet on paved, level surface.

what is the serial # of the machine? (different hyd and control systems)

If the brakes check out to be physically ok, then it could be
the drive pump needs to be nulled or the drive EDC needs to be nulled.

The important things for us to know is what is going on when this condition happens.
is engine running or not?
is foot on the foot pedal with the engine running?
without foot on the pedal with engine running?

The machine is on level ground with engine running and foot off the pedal and it starts to creep or inch in the direction of the basket

It is a s60 genie serial number 4424

Will it eventually stop moving?

On level ground with the engine running, the machine should not move even if there were NO brakes on the machine.
If it moves at all then that is evidence that the drive pump swashplate is not centered when in neutral.


It sounds as though the drive pump is out of null and the pump always being on stroke has finally wore the brakes out.

also: If the machine stops moving after a few seconds, oil could be trapped in the orifice at the brake/2 speed manifold, not letting the brake pressure evacuate quickly enough. The pump would still need to be nulled.

If the machine keeps moving, disconnect the 4-pin plug at the drive pump to verify the EDC is not getting voltage applied.
If it keeps moving with the plug removed, the pump definitely needs nulling.
If it stops moving with the plug disconnected then the drive circuit is not shutting off when in neutral.
This could leave the brake release circuit activated as well.


You could try disconnecting the coil wire (white with red stripe) on the brake valve.
Try driving the machine (being careful and on level ground) with this wire disconnected. If it drives easily then there is a brake circuit problem.

Yes it does as long as u dnt move or shut machine off and restaart

while it is creeping, disconnect the 4-pin plug (or perhaps 2-pin on # 4424) at the drive pump.
If it stops, it will be an electric issue.

Lets try the plug removal test first.

Nulling the pump is setting the pump servo and edc in neutral.

I unpluged two wire connector and retried and still the sam
e can u tell me how to null pump

Adjust the swashplate first and then the edc.

we can do it step by step
Its really easy but can be tedious and sometimes people's toes get run over.

Easy yes...there is a adjustment screw it’s a little Allen on left side of your brake/ pumps bolted to rear of engine

It will work loose and Internally wear causing this creep/walk issue
