Anyone have one or use one? For the price, it looks like a nice dual slope laser. I have been kicking around the idea of getting a dual slope laser for street and parking lot work. I have two small projects coming up that it would really help on.

List price is $2035.75 and they will upgrade the receiver to a CR600 (magnetic and story pole mount) at no charge.

I bought one last fall. I had a job cleaning several miles of ditch and finaly decided to upgrade to a laser with slope so I wouldn't have to leave the cab to check grade. I was looking at the 412 single slope laser and decided that a few hundred more now would be better than a couple thousand later, when the job where I do need dual slope comes along. So far I have only used it about a half dozen times, and just the single slope at that, but I am very happy with it so far, and im sure that I will be glad that I went for the dual slope when I do need it. The only annoying part is that the remote is only good for about 700', so if you clean 2500' of ditch a day by your self, you still get a fair amount of exersise walking back to remote range for grade breaks. However, it has been such a time saver I can live with that inconvinece.

CM, I just got mine the other day, I priced them this summer and now they offer a 5 year warrenty on these lasers instead of the old warrenty of 2 or 3 years, they have a remote included, like my 722 does and also the new feature I like, they can shut the beam off to up to three sides now, a great idea, now I don't need to have it flash at me all day long, when I'm not the one running the finish dozer. They also offer a 12 volt charger for them now, my old single slope laser, required an adaptor to be made so I could plug it into a cigarette lighter, this one has the clips to hook up to a battery, its also a new thing, before they only came with a wall charger, then you needed an inverter along to run it off a vehicle, which was never in the same vehicle as my laser ever was.

Its not a high end quality laser, like my 722 is, but for those jobs where we're always moving it, and doing short work, it sure is handy to have around, my old single slope laser burned up, so this time around we went with dual slope as well on a cheaper lighweight laser, that and with the hand held remote, it saves walking when we are doing a lot of grade changes or trying to figure out a plan for a project, that way I didn't need to worry about which laser to take along, they both have dual slope now.

I haven't purchased a new laser yet, been getting by with my old single plane. Thanks for the info Randy, let me know how it works out once you get it in the field.

So far I haven't needed one for the projects that come across my plate but the hunger to move dirt has me constantly searching new avenues.

I'll echo what the other guys said about the benefits of the unit. We've had a 422 for 3 years with no issues reported so far. I even had good success using it as the main laser (before our 722 laser unit came in) for my Cat D5KLGP with Trimble autolaser setup as long as I was within 500' of the unit. As long as you don't need the higher 900 RPM offering of the 722 for machine control applications and don't need to work over 600-800' from the unit with very tight accuracy, the 422 should be a great unit for you. We're acutally transitioning to using the 422 as the regular "work horse" unit for everyday use while the 722 will stay with the dozer for our grading work.
