Whats the Difference

How can I tell if I have a 'Dirt bucket' or a 'Utility bucket' on my Case 85XT? The one on it is 73" wide, and has the holes in the cutting blase for a tooth bar. The next question is how do you tell if it is a HD model. Thanks for the info. Steve

The HD bucket is much heavier built (I know that sounds redundant). You will notice holes on the top of the bucket for a back splash. The sides of the bucket are shaped more like a back hoe loader bucket. They are IMHO the best skid steer bucket I have found. I have never broke one or worn one out (used same bucket on an 85XT, and two 95XT's). I can't say the same for the bucket the 70XT comes with. These buckets are lighter duty more inline with a Bobcat style dirt bucket. Not near as durable.

Depending on the age and abuse of the bucket. Most of them should have a sticker/tag or something with a serial number on it and also the brand of bucket. With that info, a quick phone call to your local dealer should get you the info you need. If that doesn't work or is not possible then try to drive through the local dealers' lot to compare yours to the new ones and maybe that might work. If you are looking for a new one or other attachments, VIRNIG MFG. has some good stuff. We use the HD Dirt Bucket 78 inch on a Cat 262 and are very happy. We had the same one on a Mustang 2070 and had no problems for 2500 hrs. That is why we got another. Good Luck.
