I think this thread is a suitable place to post one of the last Sparmatics left, it's located near Valemount BC, 350kms south of Prince George.

That Mack in post #41 looks to be an A model.

^^^ The one above has a one-piece windshield; the one in post #42 has a two-piece windshield.

Vigilant She is either an LJ or a LF Mack The cab is the giveaway The distinct cover over the rad would give the model number an "M" A lot of the Macks up this way (BC ) were the exposed rad therefore the model number would end in "L" for logging My LM Mack has an exposed rad therefore it is an LMSWL The same truck on the eastern seaboard with the same cover over the rad as the picture above would make it an LMSWM The "L" is for logging whereas the "M" is for mining

As always, many thanks, HDX. Good thing I said it 'looks to be', eh?

My dad ran several off-highway L Model Macks at Vail in the late Sixites/ early Seventies. Any idea what the entire model designation might have been?

His rule of thumb was that a truck had to be 'old enough to vote' before he would sell it. That's right, 21 years old. How times have changed in that regard, and probably for the better.

I have always been partial to KW, in the woods or on the road, but I still have a soft spot in my heart for pre-R Model Mack log trucks.

Skadill, who knew that taking photos of rusty stuff was going to be so much fun ?

Who knew that all the "junk" that was getting cast aside, was going to be looked back on so fondly?

All the stuff that's running today is steaming full speed ahead to the scrap pile sooner or later.

Good thing that you and are aren't getting older or more decrepit.

Waiting and Wondering

Seems the 90 foot pipes are better show pieces than 'go' pieces anymore
