I had to pull a bucket of mine back in place some time ago, I had to use two large center bored sections of round stock slipped over the bucket teeth to get some extra leverage to pull it back into place, then I was able to weld it up.

Tom, Some more great work, done by you. Did you add steel to the bucket repair, or just the weld, job?

No steel added, just beveled the weld joint and welded it up with FCAW process.

Hi Tom
What method of removing the grease/dirt from between the join of bosses welded to plates, before borewelding? (with all the borewelding you carry out, you will know what I mean) I have tried a lot of things cleaning sprays etc. heating up the join to melt out the grease, seems to work best for me. Only it takes a fair bit of time.

I always cook the contaminants with a oxy-acetylene flame.

Looks like you have another job done and more than likely another happy customer, also. Glad you shared the finish of that project.

Wow the work you do is very impressive and looks top notch to me, i just joined and went through page by page and it was an excelent read. I do have a question though. How did you learn to diagnose the problems off all those different machines. I have done a little bit of repair on a jeep wrangler and i just used the repair manual to know exactly what was wrong, and if i was wrong i could always return the part back to the auto store. Do you have something like a repair manual for all those machines? Or is that just years of experence that you use to diagnose different problems? I just find it amazing that you can diagnose the problems so easily. Keep up the good work:thumbsup:thumbsup

Thanks Nick, as far as diagnosis goes you need service manuals, experience, and patience. You can't just guess or start replacing parts, if I did that my customers would not call me any more.
