We are converting one of our trucks with a sleeper to a daycab.Starting off with 2006 357 with 36"flatop 220"wheelbase.Going to be around 192" when complete. They started by removing the sleeper, then removing the axles and driveline and such.Once the mechanicals are done it will have the rear skin for the cab installed exhaust relocated to behind cab, battery box fabricated and installed between frame rails.cabguard/headache rack. And the rear of the frame will be cut down and ramps redone.

Yeah it's a nice truck just can't really optimize the weights,so it's getting chopped:)

I know nothing about Cali laws but why wouldn't you use some of that frame for mounting a pusher axle instead of shortening the frame? Nobody even looks at short wheelbase trucks for lowboy use around here.

Well that probably would work just not for what we need, this truck was to replace an older 02 or 03 at the time it was built never really got used for what it was built for longer out of state runs. The sleeper and long wheel base(long by our standards)don't work for local heavy haul work. All our other trucks are in the 190-192wheel base which allows you to max your weights, help with manuverabilityand keep overall length down.In Los Angeles or CA for that matter having driven this truck there are places you can't get into with this truck,as opposed to our shorter trucks.

Gotcha. You need a truck for juggling equipment around in town, not necessarily for hauling the real heavy stuff. That kind of stuff never occurs to us who only see traffic/traffic jams on TV. lol
