I had a question regarding what should be done with an old LP scraper. My father-in-law passed away couple months ago and he has one of these sitting inside his pasture. The scraper hasn't been probably used or moved since the mid-70s. Is this something that we should try to pursue a buyer on or just something that could go to the scrap metal place? It's not in the best shape as the tires are of course dry rotted and looks fairly rusted. We had some people come out for some other stuff and they were interested in the scraper, I believe they said around 500, but I would think the scrap metal place would give alot more than that as the thing weighs 9.85 ton.

Probably just scrap, old scrapers aren't easy to cut up as dirt gets everywhere and the torch just splatters. Point is it will take some doing to cut up.

Please don't forget about the antique tractor guys, there are lots of them that would love to restore/show/use something like that. Hopefully you are one of the good guys that will take something less and save our history then top dollar for scrap.

Here's a good example-

And a couple of guys that buy/sell them, might be able to find you a buyer-

If they are offering you $500.00 for scrap they are trying to steal it. Scraper if he knows what he is doing will cut up steel for No. 1 Heavy Melt, separate the engine for machinery cast. Would be much better to get it in the hands of antique machine guy who will restore it or use for parts on other machines.

Yes, give some of the antique/restorer people a shot at it for spares at least. It'd be a pity to see another old piece of iron just get melted down & turned into whitegoods

please don't turn it to scrap, far to many have gone that way. look and ask around, I am sure someone will give you something for it so they can restore it. please don't let a few dollars get in the way of saving an antique. It could be like a classic corvette to someone.
