Massey 750 , General Side Shift Info

Im new here and after some info and advise,

I own a case 580e that I use around the property, I dont have much work experience although i did a 3 month sewer connection job on JCB and have done a few other bits and pieces. I have one more week left of 5 weeks operating a 580 super m with a hydraulic bucket swivel so that has been very nice.
I have been offered work on a MF 750 side shift and have only had a quick 5min look at the machine.
I have have never operated a side shift so any general advice of side shift machines would be appreciated.
On the MF750 there are 2 buttons on the front bucket control, one is the drive cut out, anyone know what the second one is?
Any advise on the MF750 in general?

I can’t help much with the MF750 but I have an MF50HX which is probably the forerunner to the 750.

I would have thought the JCB would have been a side shift as I’ve not seen a centre mount one locally. On my machine, I have two levers to control the hoe, plus two levers to raise and lower the stabilizer legs. In addition there is a lever in the middle that unlocks the side shift clamps. To move the hoe to one side you swing it all the way perpendicular to the machine, then unlock the clamp and drag the whole tower assembly toward the bucket. Then relock the clamp. If you knew this already then my apologies.

The 2nd button on the loader control could be as simple as a horn button (mine is on the dash).

The info on how to move the tower was very help full, and the horn button sounds obvious?

The centre mount JcB was in the Torres straits, very few side shift units in north queensland,

hi the second button on them i think is to nock it out of the fifth gear which i dont think the 750 has got or on newer models as powershift you can push button and it nocks the machine in to first gear handy while loading as for the sideshift aussie chris said it perfectly ive been bought up with sideshift just make sure that the front bucket is flat on the floor as when slewing can raise the machine sounds a pain but il never work a backhoe without sideshift

Thanks for the reply, Its been so wet here very little has been happening so I have not even got on the machine yet!

i find it best to release the sideshift clamps with the arm outstreched slightly (as if digging) but off the ground ,then raise the machine with the arm ,this makes sure it is fully realeased top and bottom
then slew to left/right to move arm over

I did get to work it, sort of, The owner got 2 weeks work with the main raods dept clearing trees from drains etc after the cyclone, I was doing this on the 580M and it can be hard to keep up, very busy road so we had stop go etc, you had to load in between cars, full on but good fun, keeps you busy, the MF was way out of its league, 4in levers sticking, poor brakes, chattery brakes, and then the brake rod seal was leaking so every time I was nose down in the drain oil ran onto the road, not a good look, the cab was fumy as well. I really did wish I was not there. told the owner to pull out and look for more basic work with this machine.
He sort of fixed it up and I did one more job, pulling down a shed, he had made a grab and it worked ok, but with no extender I battled a bit but got the shed down, 3/4 of the way through the grab started falling off the quick hitch, his home made quick hitch put all the load on the lock and it simply broke, so battled through. Final bit was cleaning some bricks from beside another shed, the truck driver watching me struggle to get the bricks out with the front bucket eventually asked why I did not use the grab on the hoe to rake them out, cant mate the thing falls off, he rolls his eyes I finish that job and did not drive it again, told the owner I had other things to do.

when you get a poor machine it can make the operator look silly not your fault though thanks for the repost
