Interresting topic!!
It seems like not that long ago, in Québec, those "red and grey machines" could be seen everywhere.....Bach in the 70's and early 80's, Poclain was the most common brandname after Cat.On the top of my minds, i can remember at least 4 or 5 contractors in Québec City that had some.Eventually, they just dissapeared.....how sad!!

Very true,

I used to get parts for our Poclains from a fellow just north of Montreal. He was also an ex-Poclain serviceman , and really knew those machines. Would come to our yard in the spring and go over the Poclain machines we had. Hydraulic tune-ups,leaks ect...A few days of maintenance on those machines really paid off over the rest of the year.

Poclains 1000

I don't know of any 1000's working, but if anyone knows, Bernie at Rapid Machinery in Fredericksburg, VA would... he is a Poclain/Case parts dealer.

My father is 75 and looking to get rid of his 1977 poclain - it is still in working order although it does look rough. I don't know much else about it but could get further details.

Do you know who would be interested in it?

Any help would be great

I was on a muck shifting job in the west midlands driving a D6 dozer and 2 rollers. There was a big Poclain on there loading Volvo dump trucks. The Poclain operator fell and broke his leg. They asked if anyone could drive an excavator, I said yes but when I saw the levers in the Poclain cab I nearly fainted!Anyway I finished the shift and next day another Poclain operator showed up, thank god.Very powerful and well balanced but all those levers ???

Hi EGH,
I've just joined myself. I'm looking for information on old Poclains on behalf of a friend who's got an old FC30. This machine was supplied by S McCormack's Inchicore in 1971.
Basically, I'm looking for manuals, parts books, parts, expertise etc. preferably based in Ireland initially. I'd be happy to share information with you (or any other forum members) if you want to get in touch with me. Btw, I'm based in Galway.
Best regards,
Eamon.

Sometimes they sell books on Ebay.com, and search for poclain
also a nice site is www.poclain.be, you can asq for books and techn. info.

Hi poclain holland,
Thank you for the information but this site seems to be down. Do you know if this is a temporary problem or if there is a new url?

Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Eamon.

Hi All,
I've just found this forum and joined up. Great to be here!

I'm based in Galway, Ireland. I have a few old machines lying around including a JCB 3CII.

As mentioned in another post, I'm currently looking for information on behalf of a friend who's got a 1971 Poclain FC30. His biggest problem relates to 'modifications' by former owners. For example, someone has added an oil cooler but seems to have made a mess of the 'plumbing' in the process. Now my friend is just trying to get the machine back to it's original configuration. In order to do this, he needs advice, docomentation or - preferably - some detailed photographs from an unmodified FC30 (or FY30). He already has some pages from Parts Manuals, but these don't seem to provide all the information necessary to restore the machine to its original state. I've downloaded some PDFs from earlier posts - thanks neilcop ;) - and these certainly provide some help. However, as he's not an expert in hydraulics, he may need further assistance with this one.

We would appreciate any help with this problem.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Best regards,
Eamon.
