I took the mid and fly boom out, the only trouble was the rod at the base, I guess so many years fixed in place, so we cut it. Now Im having trouble in the A and B form the figure 1. because the pin is stuck, and so am I. Im trying with WD40, do you know any secret technique that I could use?

Ok,I woud take a bolt the same size as the set screw ,drill a hole through it,tap the head of the bolt for 1/8 or 1/4 pipe thread. Now you have a hydraulic fitting.Install it in place of the set screw then use a "porta power" jack to pump oil to the pin.

My upper shaft also has a bolt in one end, might remove it and install a piece of allthread to rigg up a "slide hammer" to pull the pin.

Good looking TM 250,I was looking forward to the pictures of it.Looks like we both have the FWD carrier. You were saying the shaft woud move a few millimeters, thats good. Can you tell if the shaft is stuck in the boom or could it be stuck in the cylinder bushing?I would think it is stuck in the boom but anything is possible.Another thing to try is weld an inch drive socket to the other end of the shaft and try to turn it while pressing it out.Great idea using the hydraulic cylinder .Good luck with it.

I am new to the forums but cant post a new topic! I need some help. I have a 1991 National Series 500B and the Boom cylinder is leaking oil. I need some directions on removing the cylinder, replacing the seals and putting the cylinder back on. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

I would imagine the oil would take the path of least resistance. But hell, when your desperate you try anything. 2yrs ago I had to remove the main boom ramas it was leaking on my 15t P&H Omega RT. The 5" (approx) pin would not budge, even after hooking up a hydraullic strand jack. In the end I supported the boom with one of my gantry cranes and a steel A-frame welded to the chassis while I cut the hardened pin in two places with a sabre saw. Two sabre saws, a dozen blades and two cans of cutting fluid later and the pin was out.

Now the boom extension assembly is leaking fluid. Im dreading pulling that apart. Im praying it's just a hose or an o-ring between the hose and valve block as the boom does not creep at all.
