Not sure what d3 you have but i remember doing a trans on one and it was a tight fit. I drove the machine onto 12x12 blocks for room underneath. I also had to remove the pump for clearance and then roll the trans to get it in and out.

Good luck with it.

Curious, who are you sending it to for repair? Would you like a quote for us to rebuild it for you?

If interested, please provide the serial # of your dozer.

pull the engine and trans as one unit. replace the main hydraulic pressure hose while you have the machine apart. clean the radiator internally. drive the dozer onto crossties or boards to gain height so you can work underneath. replace the bevel gear (pinion) seal while you have room with everything removed. the seal is only $12 from cat and is nearly impossible to do with the trans in. i had a custom driver built by a machine shop. best of luck, lindsey.

LOL! sorry there ol' timer!come to think of it,i haven't seen much of you over on the plow board.

We pulled the tranny last weekend,we discussed 3 options-motor and tranny-tranny out the top-tranny out the bottom.Tight fit but we took it out the top, really wasn't as bad as i thought, took 2 of us around 10 hrs.
We are looking for a rebuilt/reman to exchange for but thats proving to be a pain,we'll see, thanks for the help/advice

Hey Arc Burn,

What's your machine's serial #?

I may be able to help find a rebuilt unit for you, or at least give you a quote to rebuild it.
