Thanks for the pictues of your work, and just got to love the countryside. I get to looking at the trees and back ground and have to go back to see what you were doing. Guess that fixxed the Wain Roy from letting the bucket come off. Good looking road job, the repairs look like it would be just about like starting over from the beginning. Keep sharing as I sure enjoy seeing what you have been working on.

All that snow you had all winter stick around till late, then a fast warm up make it melt faster than normal? Then some big rains, too.

We were dry had a storm go through last week, got 2-3 inches of rain and just had another one an hour ago. Water standing everywhere, again.

It seems like it rains every day. The snow left earlier in town, but it hung in there in the mountains. The warmer weather definetly gets it melting, especially if its windy. It can be a beautiful sunny day, but the river will be high from the melt run off in the back country. I will try to get back on track with posting pics. We've been on such a tear that I forget, or dont take the time to take any!

What is the material that is on the road in your last picture? Looks like a very nice way to finish it off. Good job.
I was wondering where everyone had gotten to. Showtime has been quiet!

The material on the road is Item 4, its a great product. It's really coarse so it's usually just put down for base. There is a foot of it on top of fabric so it should never be an issue. I was backing in there grossing up to 60,000 and hardly put a mark in it. Before I left I backbladed it and tracked it in so it looked nice for the picture!

Not a bad spring, very wet but had enough work. The new Mack is a big improvement from the 89' much nicer to drive. I still have the 89 and use it once in a while but only if I have to. Looks like you have been busy.

Yes, permit application was downloaded on line. Then i faxed it in. My wheelbase was the limiting factor, truck axles are good for 84,000 but wheelbase was good for 70,000 so that is what I have the permit for, cost $360 I think and was emailed to my the same day.

Very simple process.
I am good for 20 ton, thats the weight I was shooting for. The truck works less and is easier to drive with 20 ton on it than the 1989 is with 15 ton on it.

I got the forms online and mailed them in. They gave me 64k which is what my axles add up to, but I have to be careful to not haul much more than 60k or I'm over on the rears. I like to be 59k I'm legal with that, it's about 18 ton which isn't a bad load.

18 ton on a 10 wheeler is nice, that works. I bet the truck feels safe and stable with it on it also. I noticed a big difference in brakes on the new truck with the tag and just bigger brakes in general. That makes the day go by easy when you don't have to be on your toes so much.

Gets going faster and stops faster!

It handles 18 ton nicely, it also pulls the trailer a lot better than the single axle. I'm very happy with the maneuveability too, I can sneak into some really tight spots. Like you said, big brakes stop better!

I will get some pics this week, there should be some good photo ops! I'm headed out to cut trees in a few minutes, but it's looking like rain, I might be getting wet!

So Sunday AM I went to cut some trees for a bit, and I managed to dodge the rain. Here's a few pics, nothing spectacular. I should be able to get some better ones this week.

My old buddy and the log pile. She has to stay in the truck most of the time now, she hurt both knees last winter. We are hoping she can re-hab naturally without surgery, but we have to bring her back to the vet soon to see what they think.

Hope your buddy heals and can get out to help real soon. I lost my buddy a few years ago, he went just about everywhere with me. Loved to ride along I think he liked the backhoe best. He could keep track of things better as he could see out the front and turn around and watch it going away. Miss him a lot, was great company.

Nice little log pile there. That's too bad about the lab. Mine had to were a cast for a while after a horse stepped on his foot. Funniest noise ever hearing him clunk along. The younger one just hopped in the tractor one day while i was starting it up. It takes some maneuvering to make him fit anymore. He normally gets bored and takes a nap at some point. He is the dog equivalent to my little brother.

We are pretty busy, and I keep forgetting to take pics. I took a bunch of pics on a basement job that we did but they are too large to upload and I dont have a resizer. I will have to take some cell phone pics. We are backfilling one today, and tomorrow I am starting the clearing for another that is being moved away from a landslide before it falls off the mountain. Hows everything out in CO?
