This is a Komatsu WA380 loader being placed into a 40 foot container. I took these pictures and this is one of my favorite sets.

I work for a Case Rental company in Great Falls Montana. I love fishing and hunting and just being outdoors, I love the smell of dirt and oil. I wanted to be on this forum to give my opinon on certain subjects, hopefully to help those business owners with questions on equipment I am not a salesman so you don't have to worry about me trying to push Case machinery on you. Hope to be chatting with you soon.

I am a "newbie operator" (a designation sure to strike terror in the hearts of General Contractors everywhere). Fortunately for me--and my Boss--the work we do is land/brush/tree management, with an emphasis on state or federal property and specializing in agricultural management and adjustments in identified habitat areas. So by the time I actually climb into a machine, turn the key, and place my hands on the controls, I am far, far away from potential lawsuit-inducing learning experiences such as parked vehicles, newly erected building frames, and client-owned chihuahuas.
We are a very small company. Our primary machines are 246A/262A Cat skid steers, equipped with 20" shear tool attachments, or grapple buckets. We operate in South Texas and are based just north of San Antonio. I signed up to HEF in the course of an employee-driven clandestine underground movement to sort of quietly ease our company toward the digital age. Not all the way into the digital age, with our own Sysco router, T3 line, Unix server, smartphone-sync, and cloud-based storage backup, like a fully modernized year-2011 business. But I think we may be able to approach, say, the mid-nineties. For instance, the Bossman now accepts text messages from employees as a valid method of information exchange, and understands that a "PDF" is basically a slightly scrambled acronym that stands for "Paperwork" and two choice swear words.

I have had nothing but fun in this business so far, and look forward to learning as much as I can both in the field and in the HEF forums. And while I myself will most likely have little to contribute to HEF aside from, perhaps, some comic relief; I am looking forward to the prospect of acting as the interface between HEF and my boss, who does have contribution potential in the forums. He is one of the immensely knowledgeable and experienced "I forgot more than you'll ever know" mechanics, and takes pleasure in the successful identification and solution of various mechanical/electrical/hydraulic issues. From what I have seen, he would fit right in here.

hello, I am from Colorado and have been working as an equipment operator since i graduated high school in 2001. Last winter i became my own boss doing snow removal. I purchased a 09 S250 2 spd high flow skid with a 9' plow and kept pretty busy. Now I am doing small excavating projects and am looking into maybe purchasing a mini ex. But I may just rent for a year and see how the work goes for a summer.. Great info on this forum!!

Hello,

I recently purchased a JCB 208S (1CX) mini digger. I wasnt really looking for one, but this little machine just caught my attention. Normally I scan through the local classified for skidsteers...new Holland or Bobcats and found the JCB that has loader and the backhoe...awesome. It's not perfect, needs some TLC but it's all there and operating. And for $6000, I had to buy. Oh and trailer included. I hauled it home with a 2003 Silverado (1500) and it really felt the extra load. Breaks over heated going down hill (mayor hill/mountain).
I'm in Puerto Rico so those of you familiar with Cayey, you know the elevation..about 3,000 feet.
Anyhow I came here looking for some info on the JCB and it seems I found the right place.

Regards,

Hello everyone,
I dont run equipment for a living but I have operated Bobcats, back hoes, track hoes, dozers and track loaders. Just enough to make a mess. I just this week bought a 1978 955L so I hope to get better at operating now.
My real passion is raising and training mules, I have 4 right now a team for my wagon, a gaited mule for riding and a 4 year old in training. I got the loader to clear off some more land for pasture.
This site has already been helpful on several questions I had about my loader so THANKS.

Hello everyone .

I found this site as am looking to buy motor scraper and have found it very interesting so I joined .

I have been operating machinery for a living for over 30 years now , You would think I should have learned something and got out years ago ! But I wouldn't be happy doing anything else .

Hello to All,

I am a new to the forum and I have really enjoyed going thru looking at all of the wealth of information this site has to offer. I live in South Central Kentucky and looking at purchasing a 1981 TD8E Ser # 9502. So as soon as I can open a new thread I have some questions about the unit. I am a novice when it comes to this type of equipment.

Thanks again for allowing me to join and I am looking forward to alot of reading and knowledge.

Have a great day.
