I no the weather has its ups and downs out there as the uk does too especially in Wales i also want to move to the bc area of canada and thought of settling down in working for somebody out there i know there is a lot of work in CANADA and was wondering for some tips if CANADIAN people yourselfs would consider welcoming me to your community im not using the site as a free job search but id really would appreciate some nice info many thanks :cool2

I moved from England to the US, a fellow worker moved from Australia to the US and two of my mates from school now live here in the US. I don't know how Canada is but The US must be pretty easy to move to.

BTW, I am an American citizen with duel citizenship in the UK. I can work in either country.

Over her its the other way:D

We got one Canadian operating our 140G.:)(Ross M W)
And a big number of Estonians driving trucks.
+ a number of people from Iceland working for both us and subcontractors.

Later this year a number of big projects will start, the next two-three years it will be a big need for operators.;)

Right now we have a campaine recruiting leaders. They talk about the need for 600 leaders for the next 2 years.(foreman and up)

My daughter is going to Norway in 2012 to attend a university there for one semester in fashion design. Maybe I should tag along and get a little operating time on an excavator!

Well, read my post carefully...
And we got a law against sosial dumping. Means you are not allowed to pay people less than the union minimum.
A polish guy then gets minimum the same wage, as a Norwegian aprentice/minimum wage.(Normaly more)
So at home his family has the expenses normal for poland, and he is earning the same as Norwegians...(+all the sosial benefits of Norway)
No wonder there is thousands of Balticum workers here..
Language is normaly not a problem, if u understand english or german. (In some types of work u need to be able to understand and speek Norwegian)

Work wise I would consider Australia, we cannot get enough workers over here in the Pilbara in Western Australia, they estimate that 40,000 workers are needed, money per hour for operators on a 12 hr day $35-$50 per hr usally on a 7 day 7 night 7 off roster fly you back to Perth and put you up for the 14 days at work, money for jam, worth considering?

Yes but the demand is for skilled workers, like engineers and such, there are plenty of people for the semi skilled positions.

This it true to an extent, there is lots of workers needed for the jobs that support the mines, its not uncommon for us to have 5 830's parked up or last week I had 2 3600's parked up due to lack of operators.

i had to laugh, no offence to any engineers out there but "engineer" and "skilled worker" arent metioned in the same phrase much in my line of work
I'd have to agree with woorarra that skilled labour, being operators, tradesmen, process staff are very much in demand across the board

this is really interesting as when you say that cos i think your absolutely right engineer is like classed better than the operator but you can find loads of engineers but you really have to look alot further to find a good operator and one who you can rely upon
